RADBUL Generation 2 comes out swinging Back in Long Beach Grand Prix circuit after six long years. Mike eye is on the prize and he is thinking about the return and the first round of the season. Long Beach it’s an amazing street course with a rich history in the motorsport even in the Formula Drift.
To complete the fresh new cosmetics was the custom design Rotiform wheels. These turned out so sick! Here the team of Mike is doing the final prep before the KW suspensions equipped RADBUL gets let loose on the track.
The practice/qualifying started off with treacherous rain, making the driving very challenging, plus it’s tough for the team to set up the car for the changing conditions. The Nitto NT05’s are doing their best here to disperse the insane puddles that were throughout the course.
Due the weather, the judges had no choice but to cancel the qualifying round and run off the drivers seeding from the 2015 champs. This was a bummer for the Radbul Crew as coming from New Zealand they have experience in these conditions. The seeded results meant Mike started in 17th position because he missed two rounds last year!
Once the sun came out, Mike came out blazing in the practice session when the track was dried out. As one of the best race drivers and drifters he love these style tracks, the commitment that is required to execute explosive looking runs for the fans and judges is what really gets Mikes adrenaline going.
Mike also like to try and utilize some time with his spotter JT. Having another kiwi who is an experienced drift racer is a real asset to the team. Here they are studying the competition and generating notes on how to approach the first battle in the top 32 and discussing which line to take.
Definitely the highlight of the 2015 Formula Drift Championship was to come away with the fan favourite award, I am always over whelmed by the support of my fans. Mike met these two dudes.
In the Top 32 we had a strong battle against Pat Mordaunt and took an easy win into the top 16.
So many fans! In the Top 16 intro it was so awesome to see how many fans came out regardless of the weather. Here Mike is lighting up for the crowd of Long Beach.
In top 16 Mike was paired up against the 2015 champ Fredric Aasbo. In the first run the Radbul chased and was strong then on its lead run. Mike got caught out by a wet surface on the outer line and gifted Freddy the win. The Radbull team is happy to come away with 12th and bank some valuable points.
