Full-Race Motorsports Focus Concept RS: Less is more!

We now may not make friends, but some US car journalists told us that the American Ford Mustang driver often has similarities with an Opel Manta driver and they are actually glad that in 2016 the Ford Focus RS was finally there. It is a mystery to us why certain drivers of certain cars always have to be a victim for various jokes…

And the new Ford all-wheel drive “weapon of choice” in the compact class has immediately succeeded in establishing among the fans with its 2,3-liter turbo four cylinder from the latest Ford Mustang with 350 series hp. The fact that more than “only” 350 hp is possible, was clearly demonstrated by the KW partner Full-Race Motorsports at the SEMA 2016.

The so-called Full-Race Motorsports Concept RS currently offers 450 hp. Not only the new Full Race Turbo kit on basis of a BorgWarner EFR 7670 charger, a larger charge air cooler and a flap exhaust system was installed, but the Americans have also reworked the four-cylinder with new connecting rods, crank shafts, valves, cylinder head and more.

As goodies, there are also a water-Menthanol-injection, an oil cooler and the gasoline pump comes from the Ford Mustang RTR. But the RS has even more to offer. All series drive shafts were replaced against reinforced shafts by “DriveShaftShop” and instead of the standard cardan shaft to the rear axle, the Americans relied on a cardan shaft made of carbon fiber (!) for their 450 hp strong “Concept RS” – too bad that you can´t see the hardware on the pictures.

Thanks to the flap exhaust system, the RS also spits fire. But the official representatives of Ford have unfortunately stopped the fun. Well, then we just have to be satisfied with the optics.

The multicolor painting itself is actually already an eye-catcher. Full-Race Motorsports shows how successful already the series optics is at the current Ford Focus RS as they have simply installed front splitter, rear diffuser and sills from Velox Motorsports! In order to make the sporty series design look even more impressive, the Americans used a “Fire Orange” which immediately reminds us of the popular Ford Electric orange, as a contrast to the “Stealth Gray”.

Of course, Full-Race Motorsports could also have turned the entire car body design “upside down”, but in the eyes of the tuner, it then wouldn´t be a real Focus RS anymore.

The interior was dominated by the standard equipment and besides to additional digital accessories, a four-point rollover bar as well as Schroth belts were installed in the Ford.

The Variant 3 not only provides a mighty lowering, but the 450 hp strong Focus also drives a lot better. Although the Ford has standard adaptive dampers and several “dynamic driving programs”, the series dampers basically only have two characteristics: tight and hard.

By the independent compression and rebound stage adjustment of the Variant 3, however, an individual damping adjustment can be chosen if you want to set our basic setup to your wheel / tire combination. Full- Race Motorsports currently has even more in the pipeline for the Focus RS and those of you who regularly take part on track days with your new RS or extensively drive on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, you could right away upgrade your standard suspension to our KW Clubsport 2-Way coilover kit.

By the way, at the SEMA, Full-Race Motorsports got the “Ford Design – Special Recognition” prize, so maybe there will soon be a special model of the Focus RS in Full-Race-look…
