The Porsche Cayman Type 981 is the second generation of Porsche Cayman and has the same technical platform as the Porsche Boxster (Type 981).

The new aluminum hybrid shell with 122 lbs less weight and 60 mm more wheelbase as well as a newly designed suspension means even better performance handling. Despite to around 10 hp more power, the model 981 is 10% more fuel efficient, which is achieved in addition to the weight reduction but by a standard start-stop-automatic system and an electromechanical steering system instead of the old oil hydraulic steering. Just like at the Panamera and the 911, the side mirrors are now mounted on the doors instead of the window triangle.
