For die-hard petrolheads the thrill and excitement of hitting the track is second to none, especially when sitting behind the wheel of something like the new 424bhp BMW M4.
Many people assume in order to hit the track you need to kit your car out with an array of modifications, but the truth is there’s very little needed to be competitive on track – especially with a BMW M car.. So don’t be fooled into thinking that super-expensive big wing is going to dramatically improve your car’s handling…
All you need is a little help from KW suspension! Bigger brakes are a worthwhile upgrade along with a well-made exhaust system for a little extra power under the bonnet. The result is a track-ready car guaranteed to be a blast on any track – something our friends at European Auto Source have put together on their BMW M4.
Set to do battle at the European Car Magazine Tuner GP @ Streets of Willow Raceway, EAS installed a set of KW Clubsport 2-way coilovers to dramatically improve the BMW M4’s track handling while remaining road legal for driving to and from the track.
The KW Clubsport upgrade gives the BMW M4 a huge about of fine-tuning. From big brakes and semi-slick tyres to increased engine power, the Clubsport can be finely adjusted to maximise performance from the M4 chassis. Improved handling, reduced bodyroll and precise steering all while driving flat-out, what’s not to love?
With the rebound adjustment on the upper end of the piston rod the Clubsport 2-way can be adjusted with 16 clicks.
At the front axle the rebound will be changed by the little attachable adjustment knob. At the rear axle damper we integrated the rebound adjustment knob in the upper end of the piston rod.
Compression damping can be adjusted independently via the purple adjustment wheel in the black reservoir housing.
Furthermore, KW Clubsport top mounts improve the grip of sport and semi-slick tyres thanks to adjustable camber providing an optimal seating while driving through corners.
No top mounts are available for Variant 3 coilovers.
Variant 3 is more suited to fast road use while Clubsport is perfect for racing, thanks to different spring rates, valve setup and more.
On both axles you can lower your BMW M4 between the approved lowering range of 15mm – 40mm. European Auto Source also installed a Brembo GT big brake kit and 18in Apex EC-7 wheels with Continental Extreme DW tyres.
Furthermore the M4 is wearing the BMW M Performance Carbon Package and improved engine software to deliver 559 bhp.
An Akrapovic Evolution Titanium exhaust system (from the turbo-back) seriously improves the M4’s soundtrack.
The end result is a super-fast sportscar capable of keeping up with even the fastest supercars! If this level of tuning is a step too far for your needs, we recommend the KW Variant 3 coilover kit or our height adjustable KW springs. If you want to go racing, then we recommend the KW Clubsport 3-way. For dedicated motorsport enthusiasts the KW Competition suspension is the ultimate upgrade. Further information at our Website.
