The Mazda Performance Series (MPS) models are amongst the most popular cars of the Japanese manufacturer. Above all, the first generation of the Mazda 3 MPS (Type BK), offered from 2006 to 2009, with its 2.3-liter turbocharged cylinder and 260 hp performances are still popular with enthusiasts.
From now on, under its brand ST suspensions, KW automotive, the suspension manufacturer, give you the choice to choose between the two coilovers ST X and ST XTA. While both ST coilovers offer an approved lowering within an adjustment range of 20 – 50 mm at both axles, the XTA has further performance features like racing springs and aluminium unibal top mounts.
The installation of an ST coilover suspension kit noticeably improves the road holding of the 260 hp MPS and makes the handling more direct.
While the ST X coilover suspension has a fixed damper setting, the ST XTA allows you to individually adjust the damper forces as well as the camber. By changing the camber angle, the tires get the optimal tire patch load and the 260 hp Mazda 3 MPS craves for fast driven curves.
The ST XTA also has adjustable dampers for the rebound forces. So you can dial a further stiffer damper setup or a softer setting within an adjustment range of 16 clicks.
Drivers who miss the option on their Mazda 3 MPS of changing the camber angle will love the ST XTA top mounts. With our unibal top mounts it’s easy to change the camber for improving the tire patch load in fast corners.
As an alternative to the ST XTA coilover kit, ST also developed the ST X coilover kit with progressive springs and nonadjustable dampers. With the ST X the Mazda 3 MPS (BK) can also be lowered on both axles up to 50 mm. Compared to other suspension systems; the ST X ensures significantly improved handling, without sacrificing residual driving comfort.
The KW damper technology used by ST suspensions puts an end to the old prejudice that a coilover suspension is always the same and harder than a conventional suspension. By designing the damper valve assembly in conjunction with shorter damper housings and matching springs, the ST coilovers ensure sufficient ride comfort in everyday life, despite lowering. From case to case, the suspension travel can even be up to a centimeter longer than with a standard suspension.
ST DZX and ST AZX wheel spacers also available for Mazda 3 MPS
With the ST DZX wheel spacers it is easy to widen the track by 10, 25 or 30 mm per axle. The tapered ST Hub Centering Adapter makes it easier to mount the track plate and the rims sit perfectly on the wheel hub. Also, no wheel unbalance can occur.
If the track is to be widened even further, it is recommended to mount the AZX spacers. They are available for wheel spacers of 50, 60 and 70 mm.
