Stock vs Modified: the BMW M235i Test on the Nürburgring Nordschleife

The perfect interplay between man and material is very important for fast lap times. Anyone who has ever driven a stock sports car and then driven one with an individually adjustable KW coilover kit, will know what we are talking about. Recently, this has been proven by edo competition with their Porsche 911 Turbo S Blackburn on the Sachsenring (see German magazine Auto Bild sportscars 5/2016).

The 669 hp “Blackburn”, equipped with a KW Clubsport 3-way coilover kit, achieved a new Sachsenring record on its Michelin Sport tires. With a lap time of 1:30,15 minutes, the 911 was even faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder (1:30,34 min) on the “Nordschleife of the East”!

But it’s getting even better! Our KW partner RSR Nurburgring has installed our KW Clubsport 3-way coilovers in their BMW M235i and were even faster by 20 seconds over the stock suspension on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

If you want to find out more, you can even watch the RSR Nurburgring You Tube video above. And if you find a BMW M235i is too tame for the Nordschleife from behind the steering wheel, RSR Nurburgring can still bring in even “heavier guns”.

More than three years ago, a Porsche 911 GT3 RS equipped with a KW racing suspension with Sabine Schmitz at the wheel speeded off from a Ferrari 458 Italia. By the way, in the German magazine “MOTORSPORT aktuell” from August 16th 2016, the editor Michael Bräutigam was able to make his own opinion at a track day from RSR Spa: “…The strong waving and the mercy-whirling tires of the standard M3 have gone, and with the changes, a razor-sharp racing device occurred. Alone the suspension kit seems to bypass the physical laws and gives the car a feeling of 30 years’ development boost…”
