45 years of ST suspensions

ST suspensions is a suspension brand with a varied past and is convincing more and more enthusiasts over the years. 2025 marks 20 years since ST suspensions became part of KW automotive.

But the roots of ST suspensions go back much further. Founded in the late seventies in Southern California, ST suspensions contain much more KW engineering than you might think. In the early years, ST suspensions, which at the time stood for ‘Suspensions Techniques’, concentrated exclusively on stabilizers and lowering springs for vehicles available in the USA. Later, sports suspensions, polyurethane bushings and dampers were added.

Back in the days ST suspensions never had its own damper production and used Koni dampers in the 1980s, which brings us back to parallels with KW. Even in the early days of KW, the first KW coilover suspension kits were still manufactured with customized dampers from Koni.

From Belltech to KW

In the mid-nineties, ST suspensions became part of Belltech and in 2005 KW automotive took over both brands. Since then, ST suspensions has also had coilover suspension kits in its product range. At that time, we were already manufacturing ST coilovers in Fichtenberg.

Over the years, we have invested heavily in the products of the ST suspensions brand. As a result, we introduced ST coilover suspensions for more and more European and Japanese car brands. From 2014, we completely repositioned ST suspensions.

Through the integration of PowerTech and Weitec, ST suspensions developed into a suspension brand that, in addition to three different coilover suspension series – ST X, ST XA with adjustable rebound and ST XTA with adjustable rebound, racing springs and unibal bearings – offers lowering springs, lift kits, sports dampers and wheel spacers, simply everything at an unbeatable price-performance ratio.

With the introduction of the AZX and DZX spacers, which are available for almost all bolt circle patterns and vehicles with wheel bolts or wheel studs, the product range covers most of all small cars, compact and mid-range models worldwide. There is hardly a common vehicle model for which ST suspensions cannot supply one or other suspension product. ST suspensions has even had height-adjustable springs in its product range since 2019.

KW Engineering and ‘Make-it-Yours’ – customize it your way, down to the finest details

Always listening to the market and constantly optimizing and improving our own suspension technology is one of the many reasons that make ST suspensions and the entire KW group so special. As we have positioned ST as the enthusiast brand in our market, we presented a customization program at the Essen Motor Show 2019.

Since then, all ST coilover suspension kits and height-adjustable springs can optionally be ordered with individual spring labelling and spring coatings. In other words, #allregistered and springs in bright Telemagenta for a ‘Hello Kitty project car’ are now possible for a small surcharge.

In addition, we also offer optional spring packages with which the ST XTA and XTA plus 3 coilover suspension kit can be further customized in terms of spring length and spring rate. As with KW, we manufacture everything in our main factory in Fichtenberg and, of course, everything is #builtoorder – in other words, we have built to order production and final assembly on site!

ST XTA & ST XTA plus 3 are trackday ready!

Though ST suspensions can achieve more than this. Since 2020, we have been increasingly developing a true performance suspension for compact models and mid-range vehicles: the ST XTA plus 3 coilover suspension kit is an absolute highlight on the market. Not only does it have unibal topmounts, racing springs and dampers with an adjustable rebound valve.

The XTA plus 3 also features 24-way adjustable high-speed and low-speed compression valves. Naturally, everything is completely independent adjustable. Our technology is so compact that not even external reservoirs are necessary! The XTA plus 3 coilover suspension kit even has a parts certificate and an attractive value for money.

The XTA and XTA plus 3 coilover suspensions have consistently shown their capabilities on the racetrack, making them a popular choice for track days. But what we are most pleased about is that we can offer the XTA plus 3 not only for current vehicles, but for the most popular models since the nineties!
