AL-KO Damping Technology produces and develops shock absorbers for a wide range number of different vehicles. The focus is not only on automobiles or light commercial vehicles. The company, which has been part of the KW automotive Group since the summer of 2021, also manufactures numerous custom-made products at its modern plant in the Spanish Basque Country.
In addition to aftermarket customers, the industrial company, newly named KW Damping Technology, also supplies original equipment. Based in Abadiño, Spain, the plant is located in one of the world’s most interesting locations for the automotive and commercial vehicle industry.
With approximately seven percent of the global supplier industry concentrated in the Basque Country, we have direct access to a dense network of specialists through our KW Damping Technology plant.

In our Spanish plant, we have a flexible and fully automated production line with over 35 robot systems. Our certified manufacturing processes allow our Spanish colleagues to produce small, customized batches in addition to large order volumes. In doing so, we always meet all the requirements of our international customers. The largest customers come from the automotive industry.
Our plant in Spain is not only a supplier, but also a long-standing development partner for numerous global companies. For this reason, we at KW Damping Technology also invest in new technologies and work hand-in-hand with our headquarters in Fichtenberg, Germany. For our customer AL-KO, we have now taken a big step further and realized the vision of an intelligent chassis for the caravanning industry. This is made possible by our in-house range of hydraulic systems, electronic valves, sensors, high-performance control units, damper controls, and application. We take the entire range of driving dynamics, driving comfort, and driving safety to a completely new level for motorhomes with the AL-KO COMFORT DRIVE suspension.
The foundation of the jointly developed AL-KO COMFORT DRIVE suspension is our Solid Piston dampers. These dampers are semi-actively controlled by our electronic proportional valves across a wide force range. Our intelligent chassis control adjusts the damping to the necessary force within six to ten milliseconds, depending on the situation.
Our high-performance control unit continuously processes signals to enhance motorhome safety in real time. To do this, our control software evaluates various parameters such as vertical wheel acceleration, wheel load fluctuations, body and roll tendency, pitch, steering angle and vehicle speed up to 1000 times per second.
