Big in Japan: Tokyo Auto Salon 2017

For KW automotive, the Tokyo Auto Salon is one of the most important automobile shows at the beginning of the year. In the halls of the “Makuhari Fair”, KW automotive along with our long-term partner and importer Hashimoto Corporation presented its latest innovations from KW and ST suspensions.

In Japan, our brand new KW Variant 4 coilover kit was presented for the first time in front of an international audience. The Variant 4 combines our leading racing technology with a significant increase in everyday comfort for many high-performance cars.

Out now: KW Variant 4 High-Performance Suspension

This allows an independent adjustment of the rebound damping as well as the low-speed and high-speed compression damping. We supply the Variant 4 with a vehicle-specific comfort setting. When necessary, the adjustable dampers allow drivers to quickly change to a performance setup with the integrated adjustment dials on the dampers. Depending on the axle geometry, we produce the Variant 4 as a McPherson suspension strut, suspension for double-wishbone or multi-link axles, as well as push-rod type suspensions made of aluminum or stainless steel.

In addition to the KW Variant 4, our long-time KW partner also featured the KW Clubsport coilovers. An eye-catcher at the booth was a BMW M2 with a KW 3-way Clubsport coilover kit. In addition to its “ZP2.1 Super Depp Concave” wheels in 9.5 x 20 inch ET22 and 11 x 20 inch ET40 with Yokohama sports tires, the “M” has been “slimmed down” with numerous carbon fiber components.

From the factory, a Porsche Cayman GT4 serves up an unadulterated sporty presence, with only a few components such as an Akrapovic Titanium exhaust system and KW Clubsport coilovers, the Cayman GT4 immediately puts itself in the pole position.

The “suspension performance” is crowned by our world renowned KW Competition racing suspensions. Our KW Competition racing technology is used in numerous racing series and various customer motorsports programs, as well as in professional drifting series worldwide. For example, the New Zealander, Mad Mike Whiddett, relies on KW suspension and presented his HUMBUL RX-7 at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

But let’s get back to our suspensions with road approval such as the KW Variant 1, Variant 2, Variant 3, DDC plug & play and Co., which met great interest in Japan.

Our KW Clubsport coilovers are now available for more vehicles with aluminum Uniball top mounts featuring independent compression and rebound adjustment. The 3-way Clubsport, take it to the next level featuring independent low-speed and high-speed compression adjustment as well as rebound adjustment.

If you are looking for a coilover kit with aluminum top mounts and rebound adjustment, we offer the ST suspensions XTA coilovers as an alternative for those who need to travel on a “smaller budget”.

In addition to the ST XTA, ST suspensions offer other suspension kits which are manufactured directly in Fichtenberg, Germany, just like our KW coilover kits.

ST suspensions has also developed various wheel spacers, which widen the track width by 10 mm, 22 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, 35 mm, 40 mm, 45 mm, 50 mm, 55 mm or 60 mm.

Certainly, some of you have encountered the challenge of finding the right wheel spacers.

The problem has finally been solved with our modular ST wheel spacer system with multi-hole circle bores and it doesn’t matter if your car has wheel nuts or wheel bolts.

We don’t want to keep you in suspense any longer. After all, you surely want to take a closer look at the BMW Touring and the VW Golf II.

At the Tokyo Auto Salon, the new “Pandem-Rocket-Bunny” body kit from TRA Kyoto for the BMW E30 Touring celebrated its premiere on the Hashimoto stand. The “Bolt-on fenders“, which were then presented for the BMW E36 and BMW E46, were already a topic of conversation in 2016.

Sure, the bolt-on kits are not everyone’s taste, but the kits actually bring fresh style into the show car driver’s paddock.

In Germany, some show cars are on the way in “Rocket-Bunny-Style” with modified wheel arches.
