Chris Harris sets a personal lap record with the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR!

In autumn 2018, Porsche set a new Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record with the street-legal Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR and Porsche test driver Lars Kern behind the steering wheel. In just 6:40:33 minutes, the 911 equipped with an MR Performance Kit rounded the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Of course, this record also made the British Car Magazine Top Gear and Chris Harris curious. Along with Lars Kern and the Manthey Racing Crew they met recently on the Portimao (Autódromo Internacional do Algarve) Portuguese race track to drive the “MR” themselves.

Chris Harris’ set his own personal best time in Portimao with the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR and smashed his previous and personal lap record was in a so-called Hypercar the 916 hp strong McLaren P1.

While Chris Harris rounded the circuit in the McLaren in 1: 51.78, he beat this lap time with the 700 hp Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR and set with a 1:49.5 minutes a new personal lap record in Portimao. The GT2 RS MR differs from the GT2 RS with a Manthey aerodynamics package, three-way adjustable MR coilover kit (low and high-speed compression, low-speed rebound) and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. The MR Performance Kit by Manthey-Racing also includes MR magnesium rims, MR steel flex brake lines, MR brake pads an MR auxiliary water tank.
