A Finn writes history

Together with his co-pilot Jonne Halttunen the fin racing driver Kalle Rovanperä wrote motorsport history with Toyota in the season of 2022.
Kalle Rovanperä is the youngest WRC world champion to date
The fast Fin became champion in New Zealand as well
Kalle Rovanperä also won the New Zealand Rallye in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 (#69) equipped with Reiger Suspension. Thanks to his lead and his performance at the end of the world, he drove as the youngest incumbent world champion to the Rallye championship at the Spain Rallye and to the final in Japan.

In Spain and Japan, Kalle and his Rallye teammates went full speed and helped Toyota Gazoo Racing to win the constructors’ ranking.

In the offroad segment, our motorsport customer Toyota Gazoo Racing won even more. The legendary offroad driver Nasser Al-Attiyah proved his excellent performance. Therefore, at the beginning of the year, he won the royal class of the Rallye Raid: the Rallye Dakar.

Nasser Al-Attiyahs’ victory was only the beginning: This legendary Rallye was part of the first W2RC season of 2022.

In those four races, the Toyota driver in the Gazoo Racing DKR Hilux T1+ won the Rallye Dakar, made it to the eleventh position in the Abu Dhabi desert challenge, the third place in the Rallye Morocco, and the second place in the total classification in the Rallye of Andalusia.
