DTM: BMW Celebrates Double Victory with KW at the Red Bull Ring – Porsche and Aston Martin with Strong Performances

During the DTM weekend at the Red Bull Ring (September 13-14, 2025), our customer teams once again impressed with their KW V6 Racing dampers. In the GT3 era of the DTM, all Porsche 911 GT3 R cars from Manthey EMA and the Manthey Junior Team, the BMW M4 GT3 Evo cars from Schubert Motorsport, and the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 cars from Comtoyou Racing are equipped with the homologated KW V6 Racing dampers.

The dampers are based on the KW Solid Piston damper principle, which we at KW Suspensions also use in selected KW DDC plug-and-play coilover suspensions, in certain KW Clubsport applications, and in the KW V5 coilover suspension from the Street Performance program. You can find out more about how our KW V6 Racing dampers and our current generation of GT3 motorsport dampers work on the KW automotive blog and on the motorsport page at www.kwsuspensions.com/de-en.

At the DTM weekend in Styria, Austria, the BMW M4 GT3 Evo cars of Schubert Motorsport drivers René Rast and Marco Wittmann dominated Saturday’s race. They celebrated a double victory, while the Porsche and Aston Martin teams put up a strong fight in both races.

Bavarian Motor Werke Saturday at the Red Bull Ring

René Rast (#33, Schubert Motorsport) took the lead in the DTM standings for the first time this season and celebrated a commanding victory in his adopted home of Austria. With his BMW M4 GT3 Evo equipped with KW V6 Racing dampers, he crossed the finish line first after 38 laps.

“Before the weekend, I didn’t think I had the best chance of winning the title, and now I’m in the lead. That feels amazing. One race can change everything in the DTM. The team played a big part in the victory with their outstanding pit stop. We delivered under pressure, and that’s what counts,” said René Rast, who catapulted himself to the top of the standings with his third win of the season, starting from seventh place.

Teammate Marco Wittmann (#11) completed the one-two victory for the Schubert Motorsport team with second place.

Austrian driver and “Grello” pilot Thomas Preining (#91) from Manthey EMA staged an impressive comeback on the fast “mountain and valley track.” In his Porsche 911 GT3 R, he made up ten places and finished sixth.

Gilles Magnus (#7, Comtoyou Racing) finished the race in ninth place in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo. Ayhancan Güven (#90, Manthey EMA) fought his way up to 16th place in his Porsche 911 GT3 R, while Morris Schuring (#92, Manthey Junior Team) finished 19th in his Porsche 911 GT3 R (992). Nicolas Baert (#8, Comtoyou Racing) rounded off the KW teams in 21st place in the Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

Tire damage and changeable conditions on Sunday

On Sunday, the KW teams once again showed their strength but had a lot of bad luck at the Red Bull Ring. Immediately after the start, the first reports of damage came flooding in. Thomas Preining (#91, Manthey EMA) suffered tire damage on his Porsche 911 GT3 R, forcing him into the pits right at the start. Unfortunately, his race and chances for points were over.

Ayhancan Güven (#90) in the second Porsche from Manthey EMA was less unlucky. He finished in seventh place. The Porsche was the only KW Motorsport customer to finish in the top 10 on Sunday.

Marco Wittmann (#11) from Schubert Motorsport finished twelfth in his BMW M4 GT3 Evo, followed by his teammate René Rast (#33) in thirteenth place. He had to drive into the penalty lap zone twice, losing his good positions at the front of the field as a result.

Gilles Magnus from Comtoyou Racing finished the race in 17th place in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo (#7), followed by Morris Schuring (#92, Manthey Junior Team) in 18th place in the Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The second Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo (#8) from Comtoyou Racing, with Nicolas Baert in the cockpit, finished in 19th place.

Due to his tire damage, Thomas Preining (#91) in the Grello had no chance and finished last, one lap behind. But that’s motorsport for you. The DTM season finale will take place over the long weekend of October 3-5 at the Hockenheimring, and the drivers’ championship remains exciting.

The New Porsche 911 GT3 R with a Revised KW V6 Racing Suspension Will Be Released in 2026

Incidentally, the Evo model, or the revised Porsche 911 GT3 R, will be launched in the 2026 season. KW V6 Racing dampers will also be on board here. You can find out more on our blog and in the KW Motorsport section on our KW Suspensions homepage (www.kwsuspensions.com/de-en).
