The 2024 DTM season remains thrilling, and once again, race cars equipped with KW V6 Racing suspension delivered a strong performance at Sachsenring. After heavy rain on Saturday afternoon, all drivers started the eleventh round of the season on wet tires.

While Ayhancan Güven in the Porsche 911 GT3 R (#90, Manthey EMA) was initially stuck in midfield, his teammate Thomas Preining in the Grello (#91) launched a remarkable charge through the field. As the track dried, the Austrian driver climbed to third place.
In a chaotic final phase with rain returning, the 2023 DTM champion even took the lead, until a slip in the penultimate lap reshuffled the field.

Ayhancan Güven capitalized on the situation, dove inside his Manthey teammate, and secured a widely celebrated victory. Thomas Preining had to settle for fourth after a tough wheel-to-wheel battle.

Marco Wittmann (#11, Schubert Motorsport) also impressed in the BMW M4 GT3 Evo with KW V6 Racing suspension, climbing from twelfth on the grid to finish seventh.

Marco Wittmann’s (#11) teammate René Rast, driving the second Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 Evo, was flagged off in 14th place.

Morris Schuring in the Porsche 911 GT3 R (#92) from the Manthey Junior Team finished 17th in the first race.

At Comtoyou Racing, Gilles Magnus (#7) finished 18th in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo. Teammate Nicolas Baert (#8) had to retire early and was not classified.
Sunday: Ayhancan Güven doubles down, Marco Wittmann and René Rast from Schubert Motorsport finish in the top 5
On Sunday, Ayhancan Güven made a perfect start from fourth on the grid in his Porsche 911 GT3 R (#90), overtaking his teammate and pole-sitter Thomas Preining (#91) in the Grello. As the race progressed, the Manthey EMA driver confidently took the lead.

Despite carrying extra weight from Saturday’s win, the 27-year-old drove a nearly flawless race and celebrated his second victory at Sachsenring, his fourth win of the season in car #90.

His teammate Thomas Preining had a tough second half after colliding with Jack Aitken, but despite a penalty, he battled back into the top 10 with his Porsche 911 GT3 R, nicknamed Grello (#91).

Sunday also went well for the Schubert Motorsport drivers in their BMW M4 GT3 Evo cars. Marco Wittmann (#11) executed a smart pit strategy and impressive overtakes to climb to fourth place.

Right behind came René Rast (#33), who started from 17th and secured fifth place with a brilliant comeback.

The Manthey Junior Team also had reason to celebrate: young talent Morris Schuring (#92) drove his Porsche 911 GT3 R with KW V6 Racing suspension to a strong seventh-place finish.

Comtoyou Racing’s Aston Martin drivers showed clear improvement on Sunday: Gilles Magnus (#7) finished ninth, Thomas Preining (#91) was flagged off in tenth, and Nicolas Baert (#8) was classified in 17th.

In the driver standings, Manthey EMA drivers Ayhancan Güven are now in third place with 145 points, and Thomas Preining is in fifth with 136 points. Manthey leads the team standings with 297 points, while Schubert Motorsport is in third place with 248 points. In the manufacturer standings, Porsche is second with 306 points, and BMW M is third with 258 points.
