DTM Season Opener in Oschersleben – Manthey EMA Wins Sunday Race

GT3 race cars from Aston Martin, BMW, and Porsche are competing in the DTM with KW V6 Racing dampers. While the best Porsche from Manthey EMA, driven by Thomas Preining (#91), finished fourth on race day in Oschersleben, his teammate Ayhancan Güven (#90) won the race on Sunday in front of a total of 47,000 spectators.

The DTM season opener was also the first time that two Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo cars competed in the DTM. There are many new features in the 2025 DTM season. For example, the regulations stipulate that there will be only one mandatory pit stop on Saturdays and two stops on Sundays.

Starting fourth on Sunday, Ayhancan Güven had a great race. Thanks to a perfect pit stop to change tires, he moved up to first place and defended his position throughout the race. The Manthey EMA driver built up a lead of up to five seconds.

At the last possible moment, the Porsche 911 GT3 R (#90) headed for the pits, where the stop went like clockwork and Ayhancan Güven was once again the first to return to the narrow track at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. In the end, he won with a lead of 2.6 seconds.

His teammate Thomas Preining also finished on the podium in third place. The Porsche customer team Manthey EMA currently leads the team standings with 63 points after the two races in Oschersleben. In the drivers’ standings, Ayhancan Güven is second with 34 points after finishing seventh on Saturday and winning on Sunday. Thomas Preining is fifth in the drivers’ standings with 30 points after finishing fourth on Saturday and third on Sunday.

Morris Schuring from the Manthey Junior Team (#92) finished 16th overall on Saturday and 17th overall on Sunday in his Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Last weekend marked the BMW M4 GT3 EVO’s first DTM outing at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. On Schubert Motorsport’s home track, René Rast finished fifth in Sunday’s race in the #33 RoboMarkets BMW M4 GT3 EVO, securing the best result of the weekend.

Marco Wittmann delivered consistently strong performances in the #11 Schaeffler BMW M4 GT3 EVO, scoring many valuable points with eighth place on Saturday and sixth on Sunday.

It was a very mixed day for the Comtoyou Racing Team with their two Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo cars, which failed to score any points.
