FIA WEC, GT World Challenge Asia, and GT America – A Full Slate of Motorsport the Upcoming Weekend

This weekend, from April 19 to April 21, is packed with racing action. Our motorsport customers will compete on three continents in the FIA WEC, the GT World Challenge Asia, and the GT World Challenge America.

Within the GT World Challenge Asia, 14 race cars use KW V6 Racing dampers

The first GT World Challenge Asia session takes place in Malaysia at the Sepang International Circuit. Almost half of the cars are equipped with our five-way adjustable KW V6 Racing shocks.

Within this Asian championship, the Porsche 911 GT3 R’s dominate by sheer numbers. In addition to the current 992, its predecessor, the 991.2, is also used occasionally. Like the 992, the 991.2 is equipped with our KW Racing dampers.

A total of eleven 911 GT3 R’s will start in the GT World Challenge Asia by the Porsche customer teams Absolute Racing (#1 and #911), Origine Motorsport (#4 and #87), Phantom Globale Racing (#13), GTO Racing Team (#14), Porsche Center Okazski (#18 and #25), Vollgas Motorsport (#44), AMAC Motorsport (#51) and AAS Phantom Global Racing (#93).

The first Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo race cars are already in action in the championship taking place in China, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand. Racing teams EBM (#8) and D’Station Racing (#777) are competing with their Evo models of the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 which are also equipped with KW V6 Racing dampers.

The only BMW team in the GT Asia World Challenge is Team KRC (#89) in their BMW M4 GT3. BMW also relies on our KW Racing suspensions for their GT3 and GT4 customer racing. Of course, the race will be streamed for free on the GT World YouTube channel; please don’t forget the time difference.

In the SC63, the five-way adjustable V6 Formula Racing CPR Heave dampers and the three-way adjustable V5 Formula Racing CPR Roll dampers are used

No need to get up early for the FIA WEC (World Endurance Championship) for Motorsport fans in Central Europe. The second round of the World Endurance Championship will be held on the historic F1 circuit in Imola.

The Lamborghini SC63 is the first LMDh equipped with KW technology

The Lamborghini SC63 (#63) will also be in action at the “Six Hours of Imola”. On the 4.9-kilometer circuit, the hybrid hypercars will be at full throttle for almost half of the lap, reaching speeds of up to 312 km/h.

The technical partnership with Lamborghini Squadra Corse is a milestone for KW

In addition to the 19 hypercars such as the Lamborghini SC63 (Drivers: Mirko Bortolotti, Edoardo Mortara, and Daniil Kwjat) from Lamborghini Iron Lynx, there are also 18 LMGT3 race cars on the track! Among them once again our motorsport customers from Aston Martin, BMW, and Porsche:

Team WRT is also on the grid with two BMW M4 GT3s (#31 and #46) in LMGT3 specification. The six pilots driving for Team WRT are Darren Leung, Sean Gelael, and Augusto Farfus in the #31 car.

Our KW V6 Racing dampers are also homologized in the BMW M4 GT3

The car with #46 is driven by Ahmad Al Harthy, Valentino Rossi, and Maxime Martin.

Manthey EMA and Manthey PureRxcing will field the two Porsche 911 GT3 R’s in the FIA WEC. The #91 Porsche will be driven by Yasser Shahin, Morris Schuring, and Richard Lietz. The #92 will be driven by Alexander Malichin, Joel Sturm, and Klaus Bachler.

While competing in the GT World Challenge Asia, the D’station Racing team will also be taking part in the Six Hours of Imola. Again, their Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo bears the number 777, with drivers Clement Mateu, Erwan Bastard, and Marco Sörensen at the wheel.

If you want to watch the race in Imola, you will have to dig deep into your pockets. Eurosport Media Library/Discovery+ will show the entire race, but only with a subscription. Sport1 will only show the last two hours for free. Qualifying and the race will also be streamed live on the official FIA WEC YouTube channel.

This weekend, GT America makes a guest appearance at Long Beach, near Los Angeles, for its third and fourth rounds of the season on the street circuit. In addition to the GT3 cars, GT4 racers will also be competing in California.

On the GT America grid, the following motorsports teams are also equipped with KW Racing dampers.

Flying Lizards Motorsport (Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo, #2, Jason Bell), Turner Motorsports (BMW M4 GT3, #29, Justin Rothberg), GMG Racing (Porsche 911 GT3 R 991. 2, #32, Kyle Washington), ACI Motorsports (Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, #7, Curt Swearingin), Carrus Callas Raceteam (BMW M4 GT4, #21, Nicholas Shanny), ST Racing (BMW M4 GT4, #38, Samantha Tan) and Rotek Racing with two Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport (#098 Isaac Sherman and #099 Robb Holland).
