8.53,553 minutes: Romain Dumas conquers Pikes Peak with the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck

Despite an unscheduled reset on the track, Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck finishes fastest in 8:53.553 minutes.

At the 102nd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb held on June 23, 2024, the Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck clocked a time of 8:53.553 minutes, securing the fastest time. Congratulations to the entire team and driver, Romain Dumas.

Despite his experience at the “Race to the Clouds” in Colorado, Romain Dumas faced a thrilling challenge with a mid-drive restart on the 2024 Pikes Peak climb. The unexpected reset in the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck cost him around 26 seconds. See more in the video!

The Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck utilizes three electric motors to generate over 1400 hp. While this is less than the 2000 hp produced by the four-motor Ford SuperVan 4.2, the F-150 still tackled the Colorado mountains with an estimated 1600 hp.

Following the tradition of extreme aerodynamics established by the Ford SuperVan 4.2 and its predecessor, the Ford Pro Electric SuperVan Concept, the Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck features a similarly aggressive design. All three “aero monsters” result from a collaborative effort between Ford Performance and STARD.

Leveraging our suspension expertise, we collaborated closely with Ford Performance and STARD by providing damper support and tuning all driving dynamics parameters on our seven-post vertical dynamics rig.
