With the start of the DTM championship at the Red Bull Ring, the 2026 motorsport season is officially underway. For the first time in DTM history, KW suspensions is equipping race cars from four automotive manufacturers.

What’s new for the 2026 season is that the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 is no longer competing in Germany’s premier motorsport series. But that does not mean Lamborghini is leaving the DTM grid to Ferrari—far from it.
Lamborghini Temerario GT3 Debuts in the DTM

With the Temerario GT3, Lamborghini has raised the bar significantly and is currently delivering the first cars to its customer racing teams. Among them are the two DTM outfits ABT Sportsline and Grasser Racing Team, each fielding four Lamborghini Temerario GT3 cars.
Another DTM debut in the Temerario GT3 is the new KW V7 Racing damper, a further development of the KW V6 Racing damper already used in the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, BMW M4 GT3 Evo, and Porsche 911 GT3 R.

As with the V6 Racing, the V7 Racing damper is based on KW Solid Piston technology, which covers a very wide force range. In this design, the valves are separated from the piston. The working piston displaces the hydraulic column toward the valve assembly, allowing significantly higher damping forces even at low gas pressures.

The flow‑optimized valves ensure cavitation‑free operation, while the entire system exhibits minimal hysteresis. This design principle is also consistently used in KW suspensions road car suspension systems.
Four manufacturers, eleven cars – KW suspensions equips the majority of the grid

In addition to the four Lamborghini Temerario GT3 entries, Manthey Racing competes with two Porsche 911 GT3 R, while Land‑Motorsport fields another 911 GT3 R. Schubert Motorsport enters two BMW M4 GT3 Evo cars.

With two Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, Comtoyou Racing takes on the challenge of the DTM championship, both cars equipped with KW V6 Racing dampers.

In 2022, KW suspensions celebrated its first DTM championship title as a suspension supplier. Sheldon van der Linde won both the Drivers’ Championship and the Teams’ Championship with Schubert Motorsport.

In 2023, Porsche also entered the DTM. Manthey Racing, with Thomas Preining, secured both the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships at the first attempt, once again on KW Racing dampers, while Porsche claimed the Manufacturers’ Championship.

In 2025, Manthey repeated its championship success. In addition to the Teams’ title, Ayhancan Güven became the first Turkish driver to win the DTM Drivers’ Championship.

The first DTM race of the 2026 season will start on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The race will be broadcast live on German Free-TV station ProSieben and streamed free of charge on Joyn.
