With the reigning ADAC GT Masters Champion, Sebastian Asch, we have developed the KW Clubsport 3-way coilover suspension for the new Ford Mustang. The Clubsport coilovers give the Mustang an uncompromising sportiness and is the ideal performance tool.

Thanks to the adjustable top mounts and the independently adjustable dampers in compression and rebound, the Mustang meets its purpose of a sports car and can be driven on race tracks at the limit even further.

In addition to the KW coilovers Variant 1 and Variant 3, the KW Clubsport coilovers are also now available. “A suspension kit should respond firm and precise on race tracks and country roads but still be comfortable enough for everyday trips, to even have driving pleasure at long drives on the highway. With the adjustable KW Clubsport coilovers we have found the perfect compromise”, said the reigning ADAC GT Masters Champion Sebastian Asch. “The Clubsport suspension ensures a neutral driving behavior of the Mustang. With the KW Clubsport suspension we have received a much more precise steering behavior and the tendency of the Mustang to understeer was minimized”. In addition, the KW Clubsport top mounts that are included in delivery improve the grip of sports and semi-slick tires because with the adjustable camber angle the tires always have an optimum support when driving in curves.

KW Clubsport coilovers – racing technology with road approval

The KW Clubsport coilovers offer numerous setup options to prepare the Ford Mustang to the individual field of application. Even far-reaching changes in performance such as a modified braking system, changed wheel / tire combinations or an increase in performance can be considered. Via the small adjustment wheel, the rebound can be adjusted in 16 exact clicks.

With a lower rebound force, the driving comfort is increased on uneven road surfaces. With increased rebound forces, the handling gets even more direct and the body vibrations are reduced. Therefore the steering precision of the Ford Mustangs is significantly improved at very high speeds. The KW Clubsport 3-way coilover kit allows in addition to the adjustable rebound damping also the targeted adjustment of the high-speed compression damping with 14 clicks and six clicking for the low-speed compression damping. A stronger low-speed adjustment causes at the front axle an even more direct steering behavior and acts against oversteering on the rear axle, without to negatively affect the deflection behavior of the high-speed damping range when driving fast over bumps and curbs.

So the KW Clubsport 3-way coilovers offer numerous adjustment options to take into account for example the body stiffness by a roll cage. “Due to the adjustable dampers a balance between longitudinal and transverse dynamics can be reached”, said the racer Sebastian Asch. “We use for example the Clubsport 3-way coilovers in our special models of the Mustang AM1.” With the damping setup of KW Clubsport coilovers developed for the use of semi-slick tires, the Ford Mustang is optimally equipped not only for track days on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

While developing the suspension adjustment, various setups have been identified for road and track use. “We focused on drivability, tire wear and lap time”, explains Sebastian Asch. “To change the damper setup from the street to the race track, you only have to turn on the integrated adjustment wheel and you are ready for the track day.”

Alternatively, also the KW Clubsport 2-way is available for the Mustang which can be adjusted in rebound and low speed compression damping. Both Clubsport coilovers allow a continuous lowering of up to 50mm for the Ford Mustang.
