KW coilover suspensions kits for the new 2020 VW Golf Mk 8: For every Volkswagen Golf enthusiast, the perfect suspension

The new VW Golf has recently become available in Europe and we already have three different coilover kits in its product range. We have currently completed the development and tests for the first of our Golf Mk8 coilover suspension kits and also our popular KW V3 is available.

The KW Variant 3 coilover suspension has become the most sold coilover suspension kit for us due to its separate compression and rebound adjustment and the complex multi-valve technology.

Despite a maximum and infinitely variable lowering of 60 millimeters with the KW Variant 3, the new Golf 8 has a sporty and harmonious everyday driving behavior. Our setup philosophy for all our suspensions in the so-called Street Performance category is a predialed setup that is as firm as necessary and as comfortable as possible.

Whether in everyday life on country roads or poorly developed side roads, speedy travel on the motorway, or holiday driving over mountain passes, with a KW coilover suspension kit the road holding of the new VW Golf 8 is further enhanced.

For example, Golf 8 drivers for whom this KW Variant 3 basic preset setup maybe too comfortable, they can further adjust the damping to their individual requirements utilizing the low-speed compression stage, which can be set with twelve clicks, and the low-speed rebound stage, which can be set separately with 16 clicks.

In short, the rebound stage is responsible for connecting the body to the road, while the compression stage supports the entire body. The damping forces are adjusted directly by hand on the shocks.

Also, the KW Variant 2 coilover suspension kit features adjustable dampers. Although in contrast to the KW Variant 3, only the low-speed rebound forces can be adjusted with 16 clicks in the Variant 2. The KW Variant 1 coilover suspension kit has no adjustable shocks, which means that the KW suspension manufacturer’s preset damper can no longer be adjusted.

Since we work with pre-configured high-speed valves for the compression and rebound stages as well as two adjustable low-speed damper valves in the Variant 3, we can accomplish this. That’s why a Variant 3 also handles a few nuances more comfortably than, for example, a KW Variant 1 or KW Variant 2.

Within the scope of the technical parts approval for legal street use, all three KW coilover kits available for the VW Golf 8 enable continuous variable lowering from 35 to 60 millimeters on both axles.

While the stepless lowering range on the front axle is adjusted on the stainless-steel struts via the trapezoidal thread and the spring perch, the lowering on the rear axle is adjusted via a so-called height adjustment perch.
