KW coilovers Variant 3 developed for the C-Class with all-wheel drive

KW Variant 3 for Mercedes-Benz C Class 4MATIC

All-wheel drive is not only popular for both SUVs and off-road vehicles, but also at numerous mid-class models. KW automotive, the suspension manufacturer, is one of the few suppliers that develop coilover kits for cars with permanent all-wheel drive such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen.

The all-wheel drive simply transfers the engine power better to the street. For the Mercedes models with all-wheel drive, the torque is distributed via a central differential to all the wheels. Each wheel decelerates specifically with the series sensors and the traction systems. This ensures a better grip in curves. The stronger loaded wheels receive more power than the wheels that are unloaded in the inner curves.

The current Mercedes-Benz C-Class 4MATIC models get even more traction with the KW coilover kit Variant 3. The steering precision and track stability is increased with the Variant 3. The KW damper technology was adapted from motor sport to the street. The coilover kit made of stainless steel can be adjusted individually in compression and rebound damping.

This makes it easy to adapt the driving behavior to the respective driving demand.” Higher rebound forces increase the handling, while lower rebound forces ensure more driving comfort.

If the compression damping forces are increased, the traction is improved by the higher tire grip and it can further influence the handling characteristics of the C-Class. High speed compression valves are also pre-configured for our V3 dampers.

The advantage is that at a certain system stimulation, as it occurs while driving over big cross joint or speed bumps, bypass channels are opened in the damper and the piston rod dives in. To put it simply, the wheel springs in when driving over a speed bump. Even at high speeds, the tire does not lose the road holding. This makes driving even safer.

With Variant 3 KW coilovers, it is easy to choose a continuous lowering. The coilover kit allows you to lower the Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan at the front axle (FA) 15 to 40 mm and from 15 to 40 mm at the rear axle (RA), despite the lower center of gravity.

The coupé with 4MATIC, a lowering of 10 – 35 mm (FA) and 15 – 40 mm (RA) is possible and at the all-wheel-drive station wagon from 15 – 40 mm (FA) and 15 – 40 mm (RA) lowering is possible. Actually, the all-wheel drive models achieve the same lowering as the C-Class versions with rear-wheel drive, which can be lowered by up to 70 mm compared to the series with our coilover kits. The continuous lowering is adjusted via the dirt-resistant trapezoidal thread directly on the stainless steel strut of the KW coilover kit. The leveling control is carried out directly at the rear axle height adjustment.
