KW Motorsport customers dominate: Overall DTM victory plus three GT World Challenge podiums and two top-5 ADAC GT4 Germany finishes

Customer racing has become an integral part of the motorsport calendar worldwide. Whether in America, Asia, or Europe, GT3 and GT4 racing cars equipped with our KW Racing dampers and suspensions are used everywhere.

KW V6 Racing in the Porsche 911 GT3 R – in addition, all Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo and BMW M4 GT3 are homologated with these KW dampers.

All Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo, BMW M4 GT3, and Porsche 911 GT3 R models are equipped with our KW V6 Racing dampers. These dampers feature adjustable high and low-speed compression and rebound valves and an adjustable blow-off valve. They are engineered utilizing the displacement piston principle, which we call KW Solid Piston technology.

While the Aston Martin will not compete in the 2024 DTM season, the series’ 40th anniversary will feature a stellar lineup including Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Porsche. As always, these prestigious manufacturers delivered thrilling action for fans, exemplified by last weekend’s doubleheader at the Norisring in Nuremberg, which drew a crowd of nearly 110,000 spectators.

If the two DTM Zandvoort races were already white and blue festivals, Nuremberg was another BMW Motorsport Party. After all, moving from seventh to first place on the tight street circuit close to the Dutzendteich is a story.

While almost all the race drivers drove into the pits to change tires as the rain began to fall, René Rast in the Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 (#33) remained on the track.

It was a high-stakes gamble, but DTM veteran René Rast (#33) struck gold. While most drivers pitted for rain tires, Rast boldly stayed out on track in his BMW M4 GT3. His daring move paid off as he overtook leader Franck Perera (#63) in the Lamborghini and claimed his first DTM victory of the 2024 season, finishing ahead of four Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2.

René Rast’s Schubert Motorsport teammates Sheldon van der Linde (#31) and Marco Wittmann finished seventh and eleventh, respectively.

Manthey EMA Porsche drivers Thomas Preining (#91) and Ayhancan Güven (#90) endured a challenging Saturday at the Norisring. Despite being among the first to pit during the pit stop window, reigning DTM champion Preining (#91) suffered a costly pit stop error, incurring a penalty lap that dropped him from eighth to fourteenth position, where he ultimately finished the race.

Ayhancan Güven (#90) also faced challenges due to the switch to rain tires. Despite climbing to tenth place, his strategy change led to a significant drop in positions, resulting in a sixteenth-place finish.

The Manthey EMA Porsche team enjoyed a much better Sunday, with both 911 GT3 Rs securing top-10 finishes. Thomas Preining (#91) and Ayhancan Güven (#90) capitalized on a lengthy safety car period and intense overtaking maneuvers to claim sixth and eighth place, respectively.

René Rast (#33) continued his impressive form from the previous day. Despite carrying success ballast, he steered his BMW M4 GT3 to a fifth-place finish, an incredible recovery from his nineteenth starting position.

The two other Schubert Motorsport drivers, Marco Wittmann (#11) and Sheldon van der Linde (#31), finished Sunday’s race in eleventh and 14th place.

Speaking of white and blue festivals, the Norisring also hosted the ADAC GT4 Germany. BMW M4 GT4 customers dominated Saturday’s race, sweeping the podium.

First place went to Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport M4 (#2), second place to FK Performance Motorsport (#46), and third place to Hofor Racing By Bonk Motorsport (#3).

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS from Avia W&S Motorsport (#30) and Wimmer Werk Motorsport (#91) finished the race in fourth and fifth place.

We also equip numerous GT4 racing cars from the manufacturers Aston Martin, BMW, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche, and Toyota with our two-way adjustable KW Racing dampers.

Accordingly, the top five were again firmly in our motorsport customers’ hands on race Sunday.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS dominated the race, with Team Avia W&S Motorsport, “razoon – more than racing,” and Wimmer Werk Motorsport claiming the top five positions. Their Caymans finished first through fifth (cars #31, #10, #30, #91, and #9, respectively).

Our GT3 motorsport customers also succeeded at the Japanese Suzuka International Circuit as part of the GT World Challenge Asia. For example, the Origine Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R (#4) finished second on Saturday.

Other top-10 finishes included sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth places for Teams Porsche Center Okazaki (#18, Porsche 911 GT3 R), Absolute Racing (#911 and #1, Porsche 911 GT3 R), and Team KRC (#89, BMW M4 GT3).

Our motorsport customers secured two podium finishes on race Sunday. The two Porsche 911 GT3 Rs from Absolute Racing (#1) and Origine Motorsport (#4) claimed second and third place respectively.

Additional top-10 finishes included fourth place for the Porsche 911 GT3 R #87 from Origine Motorsport and fifth for the BMW M4 GT3 #89 from Team KRC.
