Limited edition model from Geiger Cars: Corvette C8 Stingray 45th Anniversary with KW V5 Clubsport coilover suspension kit

For those seeking an American muscle car in Germany, there’s a name that’s sure to ring a bell: Karl Geiger. For over 45 years, Karl Geiger has been a fixture in the automotive scene in Munich, transforming American muscle cars into dynamic driving machines, delivering unparalleled thrills, whether powered by a V8 or not.

Geiger Cars, a family-owned business specializing in US cars and motorbikes based in the Munich area, is marking its 45th anniversary with the introduction of the “Corvette C8 Stingray 45th Limited Edition.” This exclusive model takes a current Stingray equipped with the Z51 package as its foundation.

Due to European regulations restricting the output of the Corvette C8 Stingray’s naturally aspirated 6.2-liter mid-mounted V8 to 481 horsepower, Geiger Cars wasted no time taking action. They equipped the vehicle with a new Geiger-Cars intake manifold and throttle body, along with optimizing the engine map. As a result, the power output has been amplified to a remarkable 522 horsepower, while the maximum torque has soared to 652 Nm.

The Limited Edition stands out with numerous carbon fiber components, including front and rear spoiler lips. Carbon flaps on the front apron and an air duct further enhance its aggressive look and aerodynamic performance.

The KW V5 Clubsport coilover suspension has four unibal bearings, a two-piece racing suspension system, and a different valve design.

Geiger Cars has relied on our various KW suspensions for years regarding more driving dynamics. The “Corvette C8 Stingray 45th Limited Edition” choice fell on our KW V5 Clubsport coilover suspension. It differs in detail from the well-known KW V5 coilover suspension for the Corvette C8.

The KW V5 Clubsport and KW V5 coilover suspensions differ mainly in the valve internals, so we use different shims and low-speed needles.

We use different low-speed needles and shims for the KW V5 Clubsport, designed for semi-slick tires. In addition, we use unibal bearings and a higher spring rate than the well-known KW V5 coilover suspension. Like the V5, the V5 Clubsport is built according to the displacement piston principle. We, therefore, also call the V5 coilovers solid piston suspensions.

The KW V5 Clubsport and KW V5 coilover suspensions feature four-way adjustability, allowing independent fine-tuning of high-speed compression, high-speed rebound, low-speed compression, and low-speed rebound damping forces. While it may sound complex, the process is surprisingly straightforward.

KW coilover suspension kits always come pre-dialed with a recommended setup meticulously developed through extensive testing on our vertical dynamic test rig, the KW 7-Post Rig, and real-world validation drives. However, understanding the fundamental principles of suspension tuning empowers you to optimize your coilover setup further for a truly personalized driving experience.

Everything you do behind the wheel, such as accelerating, braking, and steering, are simply low-speed inputs, and everything that comes from the road are high-speed inputs. Inputs from the road? These are bumps, transverse joints, on-track days, and curbs.

Geiger Cars uses Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tires in sizes 245/35R19 and 305/30R20. These tires are mounted on one-piece OZ Ultraleggera HLT wheels with a matte bronze finish and matte black accents. The car has AP Racing six-piston brakes with Pagid pads on both axles.

The interior and exterior of the C8 Stingray remain untouched, staying true to the original design. However, Karl Geiger made the most of the options list, befitting a Z51 package with an enhanced cooling system and a sport exhaust system with flaps.
