Sure, the ap coilovers are unbeatable in terms of their price-performance ratio alone and never cease to surprise many people with how well their car drives with the ap coilover suspension. This is no different with the Seat Ibiza Mk V (type KJ1) and VW Polo Mk VI (Type AW, AW1, BC1).
As a suspension manufacturer, we appreciate that the two front-wheel drive cars share the Volkswagen Group’s MQB-A0 platform. Both small cars resemble each other like an egg under the body. The ap coilover suspension fits equally into the Seat Ibiza Mk V and VW Polo Mk VI.
The ap struts are made of galvanized steel alloys. The rear axle dampers are also made of steel and black powder coated as corrosion protection.
To adjust the vehicle height or the lowering, we use an aluminum spring plate at ap Sportfahrwerke. On the multi-link rear axle of the Seat Ibiza V and VW Polo VI, the whole thing is done via the rear axle height adjustment. Basically, a rear axle height adjustment is a spring mount with a thread and a spring plate running over it.

Both front-wheel drive cars turn much sharper than their standard suspensions. Higher cornering speeds and noticeably more neutral handling are the result. Even with maximum lowering, the ride comfort remains at an acceptable level.

The parts certificate covers an adjustable lowering range of 35 to 65 millimeters for all Seat Ibiza V (type KJ1). With the exception of the VW Polo VI 2.0 TSI GTI, the other Polo models can be lowered by between 30 and 60 millimeters.
The GTI is already ten millimeters lower ex works with its sports suspension, which means that a lowering of 30 to 50 millimeters is possible in the end.
