NLS: KW Racing Customers Score Twice in Double-Header

Almost half of the NLS grid uses KW Racing suspensions

The seventh and eighth races of the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series season offered pure motorsport: changeable conditions, thrilling duels, and two days of racing on the most demanding racetrack in the world. At the 65th ADAC ACAS Cup on Saturday and the 64th ADAC Reinoldus Endurance Race on Sunday, teams with KW Racing suspensions made a strong impression and collected podium places in series.

Falken Double Victory on Saturday

Falken Motorsports set the pace in Saturday’s 27-lap race on the 24.358-kilometer combination of the Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife. Julien Andlauer and Joel Sturm dominated in the Porsche 911 GT3 R (#3) right from the start. After securing pole position in qualifying, the duo led every lap and celebrated a commanding victory.

“It has always been a dream of mine to race the Falken Porsche on the Nordschleife. To win right away is fantastic,” says Joel Sturm.

Behind the winning car, their teammates Tim Heinemann and Benny Leuchter in the Porsche 911 GT3 R (#4) completed the one-two victory for Falken Motorsports.

The Falken Motorsports team is having a very successful season in the NLS with four double victories in eight races.
Falken Motorsports has already celebrated four one-two victories on the Nordschleife this season

For Benny Leuchter, it was the first GT3 race of his career: “You can’t expect more than to be on the podium in your first GT3 race ever.”

The Black Falcon Team EAE also had reason to celebrate: Mustafa Mehmet Kaya, Mike Stursberg, and Tobias Müller drove the Porsche 911 GT3 R (#48) to third place overall. “I’m at a loss for words. It was just an awesome day,” said Tobias Müller.

Walkenhorst Motorsport also put in a strong performance: Christian Krognes, Mateo Villagomez, and Anders Buchardt finished fourth in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo (#34).

Car Collection Motorsport followed closely behind in fifth place with Artur Goroyan and Alex Fontana in the Porsche 911 GT3 R (#44).

Max Verstappen Causes an international sensation with his NLS start

A KW Racing Kit is also used in Max Verstappen’s Lionspeed GP Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS

A special highlight was Max Verstappen’s start in the CUP-3 class. The four-time Formula 1 world champion completed his permit laps for the DMSB Nordschleife Level A license in the Lionspeed GP Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS (#980) together with Christopher Lulham

“I’m glad that everything went smoothly and I got my permit for the Nordschleife,” said Max Verstappen. “I really enjoyed it, but that’s always the case here. It was good to drive in traffic during the race, with both faster and slower cars. There was also a Code 60 phase, double yellow flags, and a normal yellow flag. I drove in wet, dry, and mixed conditions. I gained experience in where there is grip and where there isn’t, and I completed a start procedure. It was really good to gain more experience on this racetrack.”

Benny Leuchter was also enthusiastic: “It’s great to have such an exceptional driver here in the Green Hell. I think Max, as a pure racer, loved this race today – the Nordschleife in the rain is simply the best!” The CUP-3 was won by the SRS Team Sorg Rennsport Cayman (#959).

On Ssunday, there was another podium finish for KW Motorsport customers

The series wrote another chapter in Sunday’s race: While the competition without KW suspensions took the overall victory, our GT3 teams once again held their own at the top. Our colleague Tim Heinemann, KW Brand and Sales Manager Track Performance, and his teammate Benny Leuchter drove the Porsche 911 GT3 R (#4) from Falken Motorsports to second place.

“Of course, I wanted to win today, but we had a lot of bad luck. After that, we tried to get the most out of it. In the end, it wasn’t meant to be,” explained Tim Heinemann after a tire failure. Benny Leuchter added: “I was able to really improve compared to the previous day. Thanks to the team for giving me this opportunity.”

For the second time in a row, the Black Falcon Team EAE celebrated a podium finish. Mike Stursberg, Mustafa Mehmet Kaya, and Ben Bünnagel once again drove the Porsche 911 GT3 R (#48) to third place and also secured victory in the Am classification.

Also in the top 10: the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo (#34) from Walkenhorst Motorsport with Christian Krognes, Mateo Villagomez, and Anders Buchardt in fifth place, and the Porsche 911 GT3 R (#44) from Car Collection Motorsport with Artur Goroyan and Alex Fontana in sixth place.

Incidentally, there was some changes at the top of the NLS standings during the double-header. Ranko Miljatovic and Nick Wüstenhagen, the drivers of the BMW M4 GT4 (#187) with homologated KW Racing suspension from Team FK Performance Motorsport, took the lead in the NLS drivers’ standings with 109 points. But the championship is not over yet, and basically anything is possible at the Green Hell.
