The Porsche Taycan with a maximum system performance of 300 kilowatts (408 HP) and rear-wheel drive can now be equipped with the KW V4 coilovers. Our coilovers manufactured in Germany enable a continuous lowering of up to 35 millimeters.
Electric mobility isn’t a challenge for KW automotive. Electric cars also need wheels, tires, and suspensions. Therefore, we offer various coilovers and suspension systems in our product range.
The KW automotive group also develops suspension components for motorsport projects that focus on alternative driving concepts. The Audi RS Q e-tron with Reiger suspensions or the FordPro Electric SuperVan which made an appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed serve as an example.
More and more plug-in hybrid models and electric vehicles can be equipped with KW coilovers with adjustable damper characteristics.
The electric Porsche Taycan is popular: With 41,296 sold units in 2021 it is the third most favored Porsche vehicle worldwide. Only the Porsche Macan with 88,362 delivered cars and the Porsche Cayenne with 83,071 units are more demanded. Now the KW V4 coilover is available for the electric Porsche Taycan.
The KW V4 coilovers stabilize the Porsche Taycan. This leads to a more balanced and smooth driving experience. Driving pleasure and maximized dynamic were targeted in the development of the Taycan coilovers. Furthermore, KW dampers with adjustable multivalve technology expand the driving comfort while using maximum lowering.
To maximize driving comfort the KW V4 coilovers enable an intuitive adjustment due to separately adaptable compression stages in the low-speed- and highspeed-range. Within 16 clicks, the traction phases can be changed into a more tight or more comfortable handling.
Similar to the KW V3 and KW V2, the KW V4 coilovers can be fine-tuned in the low-speed range. For this, an adjustment pin or wheel needs to be placed on the piston rod of the front axle.
By the way: Since the standard top mounts on the front axle are often covered by plastic cladding, we have various rebound adjustment shafts in our delivery program. These are simply attached to the piston rod and the rebound stage can then be easily adjusted using the extension.
The Taycan rear axle wheelhouse offers enough space which is why the rebound adjustment wheel of the rear axle damper is permanently integrated into the piston rod.
In the adjustment instruction of the KW V4 coilovers the terms “low” or “high” or low-speed and high-speed compression stage mean the speed of the piston rod in the damper.
Both compression stage adjustment wheels take steering behavior and other parameters such as grip and ride comfort into account. A large spectrum of individual suspension tuning is possible within six clicks in the low-speed and 15 clicks in the high-speed compression stage (16 characteristic curves).
The compression stage valve is attached at the bottom of the damper. The compression stage for past piston rod speeds is set using the gold-colored high-speed wheel.
To fine-tune the staggering of the bodywork and pitching while slowing down and speeding up the low-speed compression stage can be adjusted. The damping of long bumps can also be influenced with help of the low speed.
The KW V4 coilover, with its multi-valve technology and three-way adjustable dampers, is based on our motorsport developments.
Within a few clicks, the electric Taycan gains more driving dynamics and driving comfort – depending on the individual suspension setting. Our customers and specialized retail partners state that the installation of a KW coilover suspension can increase the kilometer range. For example, with the Tesla Model 3, it is up to seven percent.
As a part of the component’s certificate, the Porsche Taycan can be continuously lowered between 5 and 30 millimeters on the front axle and between 5 and 35 millimeters on the drive axle.
