From May 30 to June 2, 2024, the Nürburgring Nordschleife will once again be the hub of the motorsport community. Why is that? It’s the 24-hour race again.
Of the 130 race cars entered for the 52nd endurance classic, almost half will take on the “Green Hell” with KW Racing suspensions — almost as usual. Nordschleife drivers have long known the reason for this.
Almost 25 years ago, we started developing motorsport suspensions at KW automotive in Fichtenberg. We have since developed from the proverbial “suspension underdog” to the world market leader for sophisticated suspension systems.
The most successful motorsport team at the Nürburgring 24-hour race, the Manthey Racing team, founded in 1996 by former racing driver Olaf Manthey, has been relying on our suspension developments for years.
Many thanks for this long-standing trust. We are pleased that our KW Competition and KW Racing dampers were able to contribute to the seven overall Manthey victories in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2018, and 2021.
Our engineering has not only contributed to Manthey Racing’s seven overall victories at the Nürburgring 24h Race. Also Rowe Racing’s first overall victory with their BMW M6 GT3 (#99) in 2020.
The first overall victory we were involved in at the 24-hour Nürburgring was over two decades ago. In 2002, we celebrated our first 24-hour race victory on the Nürburgring Nordschleife as the chassis supplier for the Zakspeed Viper.
Anyone who has ever driven on the Nürburgring Nordschleife at track days, tourist drives, NLS, or the 24-hour race knows that man and material are always challenged there. It’s not just the more than 70 corners and the numerous jumps and chicanes that inspire respect. It is simply an indescribable mixture of impressions that affect the driver there.
Our motorsport customers celebrate numerous podium finishes and class victories on the Nordschleife every year – #wearenürburgring
At the 52nd edition of the Nürburgring 24-hour race, we equipped 62 vehicles with our motorsport suspensions. Our 5-way, 4-way, 3-way, and 2-way adjustable KW Racing dampers will be used in almost every class and almost every second racing car at this year’s endurance classic.
What is new is that our KW V6 Racing dampers are also used in the brand-new Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo. Walkenhorst Motorsport is running three Aston Martin cars this year. Another new feature is that the 24-hour race is part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge for the first time.
In addition to Rowe Racing, the BMW M Team RMG competes with the BMW M4 GT3. The 5-way adjustable KW V6 Racing dampers are also fitted here.
As in the old Porsche 911 GT3 R of the 991 series, our KW Racing dampers are also used in the Porsche 911 GT 3 R (992), which has been successfully used since 2023.
The Porsche teams Dinamic, Falken Motorsports, Lionspeed, Manthey EMA, and Renauer & Renauer Gbr and Co. also use our KW V6 Racing suspension.
After their appearances in the WEC (World Endurance Challenge), Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus will return to the Nürburgring 24-hour race in 2024. As in the past, KW shocks will be on board in the SCG 004c prototype sports car.
The “Fly and Help VW Beetle RSR” will have its first race outing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife as part of the 24-hour race. Incidentally, it will start in the SP 3T class.
Numerous other long-standing motorsport customers such as Adrenalin Motorsport, Auto Thomas by Jung Motorsport, Bonk Motorsport, eFuel Team Greisemann, Four Motors, Keeevin Sports and Racing, Ring Racing, Schmickler Performance, W&S Motorsport, and many, many others also rely on our KW Racing dampers.
During the 24-hour Nürburgring, all the crucial scenes from the race will be available in the live stream for four days. So, if you have to stay home, you won’t miss any of the action, but you can access the perfect info cockpit at www.24h-rennen.de/live. This page offers a detailed race ticker, live timing, and a link to the audio commentary. In addition to the stream, there is also a free choice between the available inboard perspectives. The international stream with English commentary will be broadcast at the following times:
The international stream is unavailable in some countries due to exclusive broadcasting rights. The geoblocking only affects the actual race, not the qualifying sessions and broadcasts of the supporting program. The countries affected are France, including overseas territories (channel: Auto Moto La Chanie), the USA and Canada (channel: Speedsport1), and Hungary (Arena4). In other countries, third-party channels are blocked – but the 24-hour Nürburgring can be watched there via TV partners or the official channels of the 24-hour (24h-rennen.de/live or youtube.com/24hNBR).
