The Game Changer for the Toyota GR Corolla: the ST XTA plus 3 coilover kit

For the Toyota GR Corolla, the ST XTA plus 3 coilover kit is the best suspension system available in the ST suspensions lineup. Quite simply, there is no better coilover kit at this price point featuring UNIBAL-bearing top mounts, racing springs, and three-way adjustable dampers made in Germany.

Don’t believe us? Let us walk you through it. With the ST XTA plus 3 coilover kit, we’re operating at almost the same technical level as a KW V4 Clubsport coilover kit and that speaks for itself.

The ST XTA plus 3 also delivers at track days. Sure, many brands make that claim, but with ST suspensions it’s simply reality. Can you name a better coilover kit from Germany in this price range?

The Best Compromise Between Track and Street

At ST suspensions, we’re currently going full throttle, rolling out the ST XTA plus 3 coilover kit for more and more vehicles. It was a natural next step to offer it for the Toyota GR Corolla as well. GR Corolla? Yes, the five-door all-wheel-drive performance hatchback that unfortunately is not available in Europe.

Depending on the market, Toyota offers the all-wheel-drive performance compact with up to 304 hp exclusively in Australia, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States. Since the five-door GR Corolla is produced in both left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive configurations, numerous enthusiasts import the Toyota into their home countries, including Austria, Switzerland and Germany.

And it is precisely for these Toyota fans that we developed our ST XTA plus 3 coilover kit. Our suspension system with its three-way adjustable dampers is truly a game changer. Definitely.

Suspension systems with three-way adjustable dampers offer significantly greater flexibility in chassis tuning and damper curve configuration. In other words, a much broader range of compromise between competing demands.

Track day capability and daily drivability are no longer as far apart as you might think. Many vehicle manufacturers have recognized this and have long been equipping limited-edition special models with similar technology. Even compact performance cars such as the Audi RS 3 Limited Edition.

The ability to independently adjust high-speed compression damping, low-speed compression damping, and low-speed rebound damping is precisely what makes this suspension system so capable.

Every single click is, simply put, a different setup. Turning the adjustment dials changes the passage diameters within the valves or the preload applied to the valve springs, selecting a different damping characteristic. Both low-speed and high-speed compression damping can be adjusted across 24 clicks, while low-speed rebound damping offers 16 clicks of adjustment.

The adjustable rebound damping influences, among other things, how the suspension extends from a compressed state during load changes. Compression damping, on the other hand, works in conjunction with the spring rate to control how quickly the damper piston rod compresses.

In addition, compression damping affects vehicle pitch and roll as well as turn-in behavior. On performance suspension systems such as the ST XTA plus 3, the terms low-speed and high-speed refer to the movement speed of the damper piston rod during compression and rebound events.

Slow piston rod movements result from typical steering inputs such as trail braking before corner entry, while fast piston rod movements are triggered by road surface irregularities including bumps and expansion joints.

The aluminum top mounts integrated into the front struts come as standard with the ST XTA plus 3 coilover kit. Compared to top mounts with rubber-metal elements, they deliver significantly greater steering precision. On the Toyota GR Corolla, the front top mounts also allow front axle camber adjustment.

Certified Continuous Lowering of up to 45 Millimeters

By the way, the wheels shown are our BBS CI-R Unlimited alloy wheels. They feature the proprietary BBS bolt pattern of 5 x 117.5 millimeters and are adapted to the vehicle’s five-lug bolt pattern via adapter plates. In the case of the Toyota GR Corolla, to a 5 x 114.3 millimeter bolt pattern.

With the adapters fitted, the 9.5 x 19-inch BBS CI-R Unlimited wheels run an offset of 16.5 millimeters at the front axle and 35 millimeters at the rear. Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport XL tires in 225/30 ZR19 are fitted on all four corners.

The tested and approved range for continuous ride height adjustment on the Toyota GR Corolla is 25 to 40 millimeters at the front axle and 25 to 45 millimeters at the rear.

Although manufactured to order in Germany and supplied without a parts certificate or type approval, the ST XTA plus 3 coilover kit can be homologated and entered into the vehicle’s registration documents through a single-vehicle inspection. Suspension springs can also be ordered in one of 18 colors with custom markings.

A release of the ST XTA plus 3 coilover kit for the facelifted Toyota GR Corolla is only a matter of time. More information will soon be available on the ST suspensions website, where you will also find a dedicated Toyota GR Corolla landing page.
