A power to weight ratio of 2.83 kilograms per HP, incredible 3.4 seconds from zero to 100 and a top speed of more than 300 kilometers per hour: That is the new OETTINGER 500R.
Heart of the Oettinger 500R is a modified 2.5 litre TFSI 5 cylinder in line engine with modified turbocharger, high performance forged pistons, reworked intake pipe, revised radiator, intercooler and many more parts.
For the suspension the Oettinger 500R is equipped with a KW Clubsport 3-way coilover kit. And with a power of 518 bhp and a topseed of over 186 mph (300 km/h) the suspension of KW is more then helpful. „This vehicle is laid out for performance and must be rock solid going round corners”, said Rüdiger Voelkner of OETTINGER. “With its 6 speed manual gearbox and all wheel drive, the sports car storms from a stand to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3,9 seconds. With DSG only in 3,4 seconds.”
With the damper setup that has been developed for the use of semi-slick tires, the KW Clubsport suspension kits are perfect for track days on race tracks such as the Nordschleife. With 16 exact clicks, the rebound of the dampers can be adjusted. This noticeably improves the steering precision and handling of the Oettinger 500R with it’s aluminium front axle with a track of 1607 mm / 63¼“ (Standard Golf R: 1549 mm / 61”).
With the top mounts it is possible to correct the camber in a way that the 285/30 R18 Dunlop Direzza tires at the 18 x 10″ ATS GTR Wheels always have an optimum grip when driving in corners.
The KW Clubsport coilovers 3-way additionally allow to adjust the compression damping in high- and low-speed range independently. The setting is made directly on the compact reservoirs of the racing damper. For the high speed compression damping, there are up to 14 and for the low-speed compression, there are six clicks available. A harder low-speed setting causes at the front axle a more direct steering and on the rear axle it acts against over steering, without to negatively affect the deflection of the high speed damping at fast driving over bumps and curbs.
A further highlight is provided by the rear suspension control arms, also manufactured from aluminium, with a track 1578 mm / 62” (Standard Golf R: 1520 mm / 60”). If you don’t drive the Oettinger 500R – also available in an 600, 650 and 700 hp version – the German tuner use 20 x 10″ ATS Wheels and Dunlop Sport Maxx tires in 275/25R20.
Behind the wheels Oettinger installed a six pot high performance brake callipers and two piece perforated and internally ventilated high performance brake discs (380 x 34 mm / 15” x 11/3“) with competition brake pads and stainless steel braided brake lines ensure excellent deceleration. The wheelbase extends to 2646 mm / 1043/16” (Standard Golf R: 2637 mm / 10313/16 “).
The front grille has double upper air intake openings. The developers have provided for sufficient evacuation of the engine compartment in the bonnet. The wheel arch ventilation is an eye-catching feature in the bold front wings. Genuine carbon fibre winglets adorn the side skirts.
A striking detail at the rear is the deep and wide skirt with genuine carbon fibre diffusor with centrally exiting exhaust tail pipes together with the brawny rear wing with its Aero-Flaps.
That is the interior of the OETTINGER 500R. The supercar is enhanced with an exclusive leather interior with black Alcantara in the centre of the seats. The stitching is in a contrasting „Orange“ matching the exterior highlights.
This exclusive finish is applied throughout the interior, to the racing seats with integrated head rests and openings for competition harnesses, the three spoke sports steering wheel, as well as the door panels, rear seat and parcel shelf.
