Practical and solid – that’s what the VW Passat has been for decades, regardless of the model series. Now, we have added the KW V3 coilover suspension to our product range for the ninth generation of the large Volkswagen.

The KW V3 coilover suspension kit allows for continuous lowering of 35 to 60 millimeters on the front axle and 40 to 65 millimeters on the rear axle of the VW Passat Variant (B9) with front-wheel drive and 4Motion all-wheel drive. When ordering the coilover suspension kit, please make sure that the V3 is intended for a 4Motion model or a front-wheel drive vehicle. The coilover suspension is also not yet available for Passat models with DCC Pro suspension control.

Anyone who chooses a KW V3 coilover suspension system does so not only because it offers maximum continuous lowering within the scope of the certification, but also because they want to enjoy driving their VW Passat even more. After all, the multi-valve technology used in our KW V3 coilover suspension systems has been impressing car enthusiasts for years.

With the KW V3 coilover suspension kit and its multi-valve technology, the compression and rebound valves always consist of a fixed, preconfigured high-speed valve and an adjustable low-speed valve. On long bumps or when cornering on flat surfaces, such as with slow damper excitation, the KW V3 dampers operate in the low-speed range.
When driving the VW Passat Variant on an uneven road, short bumps cause much higher piston rod speeds in the damper. The high-speed valves, preconfigured during damper production, open due to the higher oil flow, and the increase in force is lower than in the low-speed range.

That’s why the KW V3 coilover suspension dampens hard impacts so cleanly and the VW Passat Variant springs harmoniously. Even with maximum lowering and strong vibrations, our coilover suspension plays to its strengths.

If you find the default suspension setup too comfortable or too stiff, you can easily adjust the handling yourself in just a few simple steps. It’s not difficult and relatively easy to do. Thanks to the integrated adjustment wheels and the tools supplied, you won’t break any fingers in the process. The included adjustment instructions make it completely straightforward.

Higher compression stage forces or a harder compression stage on the front axle ensure even more direct steering. The VW Passat becomes more precise to steer and more aggressive to handle. A softer compression stage makes the steering much more responsive. Higher compression stage forces on the rear axle counteract oversteering. The Passat also becomes more stable when changing direction. A softer setting allows the rear of the Variant to steer much more freely. The compression stage can be adjusted in twelve clicks.

With a higher or firmer rebound stage, the handling on the front axle becomes even more direct, while ride comfort may be slightly reduced. Low rebound damping forces increase driving comfort in the VW Passat at slow speeds, while higher rebound damping forces lead to better feedback in terms of handling. The rebound damping can be adjusted with 16 precise clicks on the KW V3.

Compared to other coilover kits, we manufacture the KW V3 for the VW Passat (B9) from stainless steel. So it’s no wonder that we offer a warranty of more than two years on our coilover kits. At KW we proudly stand behind our products. If you have a concern with any of our products, simply submit a Customer Concern Form below and we will make sure you’re taken care of within the limits of our warranty policy.

Like all our KW coilover kits, we also manufacture the KW V3 for the VW Passat B9 to order at our headquarters in Fichtenberg, Swabia. In plain language, this means that when someone orders a KW coilover kit, our colleagues start production of the suspension in our factory.

At KW automotive, we have a vertical range of manufacture of over 90 percent, and every single suspension or height-adjustable spring kit is built for you. No other suspension manufacturer in our segment works with such a manufacturing philosophy.

The mounted alloy wheels are BBS CI-R Unlimited wheels in 9 x 20 inches with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires in 225/35R20. Did you know that all five-hole circle applications in the BBS Unlimited wheel system are manufactured exclusively in a 5 x 117.5 bolt pattern?

All BBS Unlimited wheels are manufactured using the flow-forming process and have a bolt circle diameter of 5×117.5 millimeters. Thanks to special BBS hub adapters and precise BBS centering rings, they can be mounted on almost any vehicle model with a five-hole bolt pattern. Depending on the design, BBS Unlimited wheels are available in diameters of 19, 20, 21, and 22 inches. The available rim widths range from 8 to 12 inches and include variants such as 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5, 11, and 11.5 inches.

The BBS light alloy wheel system combines various components in perfect harmony, ensuring unparalleled handling and flexibility in the wheel market. BBS Unlimited wheels are available in a wide range of colors, sizes, rim widths, and concavities. A broad selection of accessories also allows for individual customization.

BBS Unlimited wheels can be fitted with impact protection rings, hub caps, and valve caps in various colors. High-quality titanium wheel bolts are also available.

The KW V3 coilover suspension is not yet available for the plug-in hybrid variant or models with DCC Pro suspension control. However, our colleagues are currently working on its development. Additional KW coilover suspensions will also be released for the VW Passat (B9).
