2024 FIA World Endurance Championship Kicks Off: KW automotive Now Active in the World Endurance Championship

The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) is characterized by eight races in eight nations worldwide with works teams and renowned customer racing teams from various car manufacturers. There are many new things in the twelfth season of the World Endurance Championship.

For example, only hypercars, according to LMH or LMDh regulations (Le Mans Hypercar or Le Mans Daytona h regulations) and LMGT3 racing cars based on GT3 customer sports cars, are allowed for the WEC 2024.

In addition, only two cars per car manufacturer may be used in the GT3 class. What is new is that the suspension manufacturer KW automotive is equipping various racing cars with its innovative suspension technology for the first time in this championship.

KW automotive is the official technical partner of the Lamborghini Squadra Corse

A milestone in our company history is the technical partnership with Lamborghini Squadra Corse. We have developed a new generation of motorsport dampers for the motorsport department of the Italian car manufacturer.

What is new is that these five-way adjustable V6 Formula Racing CPR Heave dampers and three-way adjustable V5 Formula Racing CPR Roll dampers used in the SC63 use a continuous piston rod.

Due to the design, there is no gas expansion force with the “Continuous-Piston-Rod” design, and the hysteresis is lower. This means that temperature fluctuations in the damper do not influence a change in the ride height of the racing car. This is a considerable advantage for cars with a lot of downforce, such as the Lamborghini SC63.

The racing drivers Mirko Bortolotti, Edoardo Mortara, and Daniil Kvyat will drive the SC63 (#63) of the Lamborghini Iron Lynx team in the WEC 2024.

Six LMGT3 racing cars participate with KW motorsports technology

In addition to the Lamborghini SC63, KW automotive also equips selected LMGT3 customer racing cars in the WEC. The BMW M Team WRT is in the WEC with two BMW M4 GT3s (#31 and #46).

The driver lineup for the M3, with starting number 31, comprises of Augusto Farfus, Darren Leung, and Sean Gelael.

In the 46, Valentino Rossi, Maxime Martin, and Ahmad Al Harthy take turns at the steering wheel.

Porsche, Richard Lietz, Morris Schuring, and Yasser Shahin start in the Manthey EMA 911 GT3 R (#91).

Manthey Purerxcing enters the second Porsche 911 GT3 R (#92) with Klaus Bachler, Alex Malykhin, and Joel Sturm.

Heart of Racing has its lineup of drivers Ian James, Daniel Mancinelli, and Alex Riberas in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo (#27) in the LMGT3.

The second Vantage (#777) starts under the flag of the Japanese racing team D’Station Racing. Clément Mateu, Erwan Bastard and Marco Sorenson share the cockpit. Parts of the seven-season races will be broadcasted live, or the TV channel Sport1 will broadcast highlights.
