Sebring 2024: KW motorsport customers are racing in Florida this weekend

The Lamborghini SC63 will make its IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut this weekend. Developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, this hybrid hypercar has also been campaigned by Lamborghini Iron Lynx in the IMSA series.

Fresh off its debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship earlier this month, the Lamborghini SC63 is now set to make its North American racing premiere.

As the official technical partner of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, we developed the SC63 five-way adjustable KW V6 Formula Racing CPR Heave dampers and three-way adjustable KW V5 Formula Racing CPR Roll dampers.

The #63 Lamborghini SC63, a hybrid hypercar competing in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class, will take to the track for the Sebring 12-hour race, piloted by Matteo Cairoli, Andrea Caldarelli, and Romain Grosjean.

Conversely, GT3 customer racing cars participate in two distinct classifications within the GT Daytona category: GTD Pro and GTD. The GTD Pro class is exclusively for professional drivers, whereas the GTD class permits a combination of professional and amateur drivers or even an all-amateur driver configuration.

Our KW V6 racing dampers are being used successfully in more and more GT3 racing cars. Here, you can see the dampers of the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo

Since both GTD Pro and GTD classes operate under the same Balance of Performance (BoP) regulations and GT3 homologation rules, the following GT3 race cars equipped with KW V6 Racing dampers compete in the GTD Pro class:

GTD champions Paul Miller Racing, having swept the team, manufacturer, and driver championships in 2023, will return in 2024 with their BMW M4 GT3. Behind the wheel of the #1 M4 will be the driver trio of Bryan Sellers, Madison Snow, and Neil Verhagen, competing in the GTD Pro category.

Heart of Racing also competes in the GTD Pro with their Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo (#23). The factory drivers are Ross Gunn, Alex Riberas, and Mario Farnbacher.

The third GT3 racing car in GTD Pro with KW V6 Racing dampers is the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) from AO Racing. Laurin Heinrich, Seb Priaulx, and Michael Christensen drive the #77.

The second Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo (#27) from Heart of Racing starts in the GTD class with drivers Roman de Angelis, Zacharie Robichon, and Ian James.

Andretti Motorsports (#43, Jarett Andretti, Gabby Chaves, and Scott Hargrove), MDK Motorsports (#86, Kerong Li, Anders Fjordbach, and Klaus Bachler), and Wright Motorsports (#120, Adelson, Elliott Skeer, and Jan Heylen) will each field a Porsche 911 GT3 R (992). The third Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo (#44) will compete in the GTD class under the Magnus Racing banner with drivers John Potter, Andy Lally, and Spencer Pumpelly.

Globally, all BMW M4 GT3 are equipped with KW V6 Racing dampers

Turner Motorsport returns to the track this year with their BMW M4 GT3, just like in 2023. Robby Foley, Patrick Gallagher, and Jake Walker will pilot the #96 M4 in the GTD class.

Qualifying begins on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 12:15 PM to 1:25 PM (local time, US East Coast, current difference to CET – 5.00 hours). The 12-hour race in Sebring will start on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 9:30 AM (local time).

You can find the exact program and where the race will be streamed directly on the IMSA website www.imsa.com
