AMG Black Series Engineering for Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC (V177) & Co: KW driving dynamics upgrade for all Mercedes A-Class sedans

Like many people already know, our KW coilovers are available for numerous vehicles and offer much more than only the possibility of a maximum lowering within the scope of the parts certificate.

KW Variant 3 coilover suspension scope of delivery for Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC (V177)

All of our coilover suspension kits increase the driving dynamics while maintaining a sports ride comfort. For all models of the notchback sedan, from the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC over A 250 e Plug-in-Hybrid to the A180, here at KW automotive we have coilovers with stainless steel struts in our delivery program.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s a V177 sedan with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. We have you covered! For the sporty Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC sedan, the KW Clubsport coilover suspension is available in addition to the KW Variant 3 coilover suspension. The KW Variant 1 coilover suspension is also available for all other engine types in the Mercedes A class (V177).

In addition, we manufacture height-adjustable sports suspensions with multiple accessory programs for various car manufacturers.

For example, limited edition special production models, sports cars and racing cars such as Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series, Mercedes-AMG GT-R Pro or the Mercedes-AMG GT4 touring car are already equipped from Mercedes with our adjustable KW coilover suspension technology.

Since its launch, the KW Variant 3 coilover suspension, available for numerous vehicles, has become our best-selling coilover suspension. The ability to adjust the suspension with its damper characteristics to a more sporty or comfortable setting plus the opportunity to choose a stepless lowering freely makes it so popular.

Our philosophy is always to develop a KW coilover suspension kit as firm as necessary and as comfortable as possible for our road applications like KW Variant 1, KW Variant 2, KW Variant 3, KW Variant 4 and KW Variant 5. If a Mercedes-Benz A-Class (V177) lowered with a KW Variant 3 coilover suspension is driven on a badly maintained side road, the KW coilover suspension absorbs these shocks precisely and quickly.

No grip, no traction, no safety and no speed

It always surprises many people that a KW coilover suspension can increase ride comfort despite lowering. Many believe that a harsh suspension would be sporty, but that’s not the case.

Basically, the main task of the suspension is to ensure that the tires are always kept in contact with the road. If a suspension is too firm, the tires lose grip. No grip, no traction, no safety and no speed.

With our KW Variant 3, the rebound forces can be further tuned with 16 exact clicks for more comfortable or, if desired, firmer handling. The compression damping is also adjustable on KW Variant 3.

The task of the compression damping is to support the car body and control the compression of the spring and shock. Depending on the setting, the compression stage can be used to influence rolling motions and steering behavior.

While the low-speed compression stage (piston rod velocity) of the KW Variant 3 can be individually adjusted with twelve click steps, the high-speed compression stage valves, which are jointly responsible for ride comfort, are preconfigured and cannot be further adjusted.

At high vertical accelerations, such as those that occur when driving over bumps or transverse joints, the high-speed compression stage valves open and the wheels compress. In other words, the wheels no longer bounce during bumps and the tires maintain constant contact patch load with the road.

The entire process is supported by the fact that we use progressive suspension springs. Anyone who decides on a KW coilover suspension always receives a vehicle-specific complete solution, which we have perfected in numerous road tests for everyday use.

The suspensions, which are available with a parts certificate, enable a maximum lowering of 10 to 30 millimeters for the AMG A35 4MATIC sedan or 45 to 75 millimeters for the A 250 e plug-in hybrid and 30 to 50 millimeters for the A180, if desired.
