Asian Le Mans Series: Porsche customer GT3 winners secure ticket to Le Mans

With 76 points, the Porsche customer racing team Pure Rxcing wins the Asian Le Mans Series in the GT3 class

Thanks to their second-place finish last weekend at the finale of the Asian Le Mans Series in the GT3 class, Klaus Bachler, Alex Malykhin, and Joel Sturm have secured their spot in the LMGT3 class at Le Mans.

Following IMSA’s announcement of GT3 as a professional category starting 2024, homologated GT3 racecars like the Vantage AMR GT3 Evo, M4 GT3, and 911 GT3 R (992), all equipped with KW V6 Racing Solid Piston dampers, now have a path to the FIA WEC and Le Mans.

Klaus Bachler, Alex Malykhin, and Joel Sturm consistently scored points in all but one of the five races in Sepang, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.

The Porsche customer racing team Pure Rxcing (Porsche 911 GT3 R, #91) remained scoreless in one of the five championship races of the Asian Le Mans Series, finished sixth once (eight points), and achieved two first-place finishes (25 points each).

In the Asian Le Mans Series, racing cars based on LMP2, LMP3, and GT3 regulations compete against each other in their respective classes

So, last weekend (February 10th to 11th, 2024), Klaus Bachler, Alex Malykhin, and Joel Sturm’s second-place finish (18 points) was enough for them to win the championship in the GT3 class.

A total of 25 GT3 racing cars from the manufacturers Aston Martin (2x), Audi (4x), BMW (2x), Ferrari (4x), Lamborghini (1x), McLaren (2x), Mercedes (5x) and Porsche (5x) took part

With 76 championship points, the PureRxcing Porsche 911 GT3 R (#91) secured the championship with a razor-thin margin.

PureRxcing clinched the championship, leaving Tripple Eight’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO (#88) in second (74 points) and Saintloc Racing’s Audi R8 LMS EVO 2 (#42) in third (57 points).
