In addition to height-adjustable suspension springs, the popular KW Variant 3 coilover kit is now available for the 354 hp strong coupé. With its dampers being independently adjustable in compression and rebound, the KW coilovers Variant 3 are one of the most sold suspensions in the aftermarket and staunches demanding sports cars drivers all over the world.
This is simply because our Variant 3 gives the S5 a driving behavior, as firm as necessary and as comfortable as possible.
The compression damping force can be adjusted in twelve clicks by the integrated adjusters directly on the stainless steel housing in order to avoid pitching and rolling movements.
In addition, a higher compression level on the front axle supports an even more direct steering and on the rear axle it counteracts the oversteering. Drivers of sports cars are especially stoked about the KW suspension technology. The technical background is a two-stage compression valve in the KW Variant 3.
Even when the compression stage is closed, a pre-configured high speed compression valve is opened so when driving over ground shafts or cross-joints, the wheels can dive in and a damping is achieved without any loss in performance. As a result, with our valve technology from the motorsport, we avoid the typical bouncing of the wheels and pitching of the chassis that always occurs with poorly designed suspension kits.
The KW Variant 3 can also be adjusted in rebound individually with 16 clicks, in order to influence the handling characteristics and driving comfort of the Audi S5. With a lower rebound force, the comfort is increased, while at an increased rebound force the handling is further increased and the body vibrations are reduced.
So even at very high speeds, the steering precision of the Audi S5 coupé is noticeably improved.
Conventional suspension technology offers individual scope?
For the Variant 3 we do not use adaptive damper technology, but we continue to rely on a proven and conventionally adjustable valve technology.
With our Variant 3, drivers have the possibility to adjust an individual damper setup for modified wheel / tire combinations. This would not be possible with adaptive series dampers.
If the Audi S5 Coupé is equipped from factory with adaptive dampers, the so-called cancellation kit for the suspension control as a plug & play solution is part of the delivery. During installation, the cancellation kit is connected with a compatible plug-in connector, and except for the adaptive damper control, all the assistance and dynamic systems of the S5 remain active.
Continuous lowering up to 35 mm
The adjustment of the continuous lowering is made directly via the dirt-resistant trapezoidal thread on the stainless steel struts at the front axle and the rear axle height adjustment. On both axles, a tested lowering of 10 – 35 mm is possible.
The height-adjustable KW springs allow a continuous lowering of 0 – 20 mm for the Audi S5 coupé (B9). Further information available at www.kwsuspensions.net
