It is no secret that British automotive history is packed with stunning sports cars perpetuating themselves in the hearts of automotive enthusiasts and motorsports history. The sports- and racecars of Aston Martin are also considered legendary.
We are sure everybody can acquire a liking for the DB5, the V8 Vantage, the DB10, and Valhalla – even without extraordinary MI6 gimmicks made by “Q.”
The sports car is the last of its kind at Aston Martin, with 333 built copies. Just like ourselves at KW automotive, automotive enthusiasts also feel melancholy that the Aston Martin Vantage V12 is saying goodbye to automotive history.
What kind of sports car fan doesn’t get goosebumps when hearing the twelve-cylinder of the 5.2-liter displacement? One automotive enthusiast from Swiss was delighted by his 700 HP strong Vantage V12 – at first.
The owner contacted our colleagues from KW Swiss, and the Aston Martin, with its 12 cylinders, turned the heads of our engineers and technicians at our headquarters in Fichtenberg.
It doesn’t always have to be a coilover kit.
There are multiple answers when thinking about the right coilovers, and the owner must always be willing to compromise. Regarding the Aston Martin Vantage V12, the compromise was to develop height-adjustable springs instead of a particular construction coilover kit based on our Solid Piston technology.
Finally, we chose height-adjustable springs. This way, the serial coilovers have almost the same lowering options as our coilover kits. The serial coilover kit of the Aston Martin Vantage V12 doesn’t come with firmly welded-on spring plates. Therefore, we were able to work with a so-called sleeve version.
If your car (e.g., the Audi RS3) has a firmly welded-on spring plate at its MacPherson spring strut, this is no problem. Our height-adjustable springs can also be installed when such spring strut constructions exist. But let’s go back to the Aston Martin V12 Vantage!
When mounting our product, the removal of the serial spring struts and the original stop elements, including the serial springs with top serial mounts, are required. Our product consistently has an installation guide with the essential installation steps.
Our height-adjustable spring kit was installed within just a few steps. Disclaimer: Please review the installation guide and replace the serial spring travel limiters with the included KW components and elastomer spring (bump stop).
Our elastomer spring (bump stop) is an essential component and focuses on the maximum possible lowering with the help of our coilover spring kit. The spring position is adjustable accurately to the millimeter via the threaded sleeves. This way, a continuous lowering of 0 to 30 millimeters at the front axle and 5 to 25 millimeters at the rear axle can be chosen.
The height-adjustable springs cause a sporty and harmonic driving characteristic. The spring kit, in combination with the adaptive serial dampers, increases the handling in every driving mode.
The spring rates of KW height-adjustable springs harmonize perfectly with the three damper characteristic curves in the modes “Sport,” “Sport+,” and “Track” of the 700 HP V12 Vantage. By the way, our height-adjustable springs for the Aston Martin weren’t custom-made. We applied the springs for all 333 exemplars of the V12 Vantage Coupé with included parts certificate.
We await patiently until the first driver of an Aston Martin Valkyre contacts us.
