Passionate KW enthusiasts, just like automotive manufacturers, know that here in the KW automotive Headquarters in Germany, we can develop and manufacture a custom suspension tailored for every type of vehicle on a project-specific basis. In essence, there are only a few car models for which we don’t have a coilover suspension with parts certification in our lineup or one that we can’t offer through our custom-built solutions accompanied by meticulous documentation for individual approval.
The only challenge that arises always involves budget constraints. Because we have been manufacturing our suspension kits for years using a custom-order approach and the highest-quality materials, we do not produce scalable, mass-produced kits. Furthermore, we fabricate all our coilover suspension kits in Fichtenberg (Germany), including the new KW V3 coilover suspension kit for the KIA EV6 GT.
Yes, the KIA is an electric car, and yes, it’s an SUV. But even a ‘Mid-Size SUV’ weighing over 2.2 tons can benefit from a coilover suspension. Don’t believe it? The pictures speak for themselves, don’t they?
Since the first SUVs hit the market with the BMW X5, we have also established our coilover suspensions for this car segment. Somehow, here in Fichtenberg, we were pioneers again – just as usual.
As a global leader in aftermarket coilover suspension technology, we have consistently redefined the boundaries of performance and personalization. From pioneering the production of stainless steel shock absorbers to introducing adjustable dampers with separate compression and rebound damping, KW has spearheaded the development of innovative suspension solutions, including retrofit adaptive suspensions and coilover suspension kits specifically designed for a wide range of electric vehicles. Recognizing the burgeoning market for electric cars, KW is proud to offer its comprehensive range of coilover kits for nearly 50 different electric car models and types.
It was a matter of time until we had a coilover suspension kit available for the KIA EV6 GT. Although the EV6 GT comes equipped with adaptive dampers from the factory, our KW V3 coilover suspension kit does not have electronically adjustable dampers.
Therefore, we have also developed electronic suspension cancellation modules, which we include with the KW V3 coilover suspension kit for the crossover SUV KIA EV6 GT. By the way, we’ve already delved into our modules on our blog (click here).
However, in the case of the manually adjustable compression and rebound settings in the V3, this is not a disadvantage because when has analog been considered inferior? Even many of our customers in the automotive industry opt for our “analog” or manually adjustable suspension technology in their special models.
The Audi RS4 always comes equipped with an adaptive suspension from the factory. However, those who order the Competition Plus Package receive analog or manually adjustable dampers. With this suspension, the RS4 becomes 20 seconds faster on the Nürburgring Nordschleife despite maintaining its stock performance without the discomfort of an overly stiff suspension. You can find out more about this by clicking here, and now we finally move on to the KIA.
The electric SUV EV6 GT, with a system output of 430 kW (585 hp), is the current top model in the lineup, with permanent all-wheel drive. When the KW V3 coilover suspension kit is installed, the KIA SUV is lowered 20 millimeters closer to the asphalt.
If further lowering is required, the stepless lowering can be adjusted by an additional 25 millimeters. In the images, the GT is lowered by a total of 45 millimeters. This is also the maximum lowering permitted by the parts certificate.
The mounted BBS wheels undoubtedly enhance the stylish stance of the KIA EV6 GT. These new BBS CC-R Unlimited wheels measure 10 x 22 inches with an offset of 49 millimeters on the front axle and 10 x 22 inches with an offset of 42 millimeters on the rear axle.
They are painted in White Gold, and our colleagues have delved deep into the BBS Unlimited customization options. They added a black rim protection ring, wheel bolts, and valve caps. However, the highlight of our BBS Unlimited accessories is always our “3D Rotational Center Caps.”
What’s cool about the BBS Unlimited wheel program is that the wheels are universally mountable. The flow-forming wheels are exclusively manufactured in the 5 x 117.5 bolt pattern. With patented hub adapters, ten bolt patterns from 5 x 100 to 5 x 130 can be accommodated. If there is sufficient space in the wheel arches of the respective vehicle, the BBS Unlimited alloy wheels can be installed on any car with a five-lug bolt pattern.
The BBS Unlimited wheels offer exceptional versatility, allowing for offset adjustment to ensure a perfect fit. A wide range of centering rings, available in 18 hub diameters, enable precise alignment with various vehicle specifications. These features and the universal hub adapters make the BBS Unlimited wheels compatible with almost all vehicles equipped with a five-lug bolt pattern.

Why a KW V3 coilover suspension kit in a car, despite its analog damping technology, is always worth considering is actually not a secret.
For decades, we’ve been playing with open cards and explaining the functionality of our online platforms for every KW coilover suspension kit.
With the V3, we don’t rely on parallel damper tuning, where the compression and rebound forces are not adjusted in parallel but separately. In a simple and generalized sense, we distinguish between the forces during compression and rebound.
The KW V3 coilover suspension kit offers even more versatility. By adjusting the knobs on the shock absorber, you can fine-tune the low-speed damping forces. However, the high-speed damping forces, meticulously calibrated at our shock absorber factory, remain unaffected. This applies to the KW V3 Leveling and the KW V3 Clubsport coilover suspension kits.
Those who opt for a coilover suspension from us can rest assured that we have already pre-set the setup as part of the order-specific production. Each suspension kit also comes with an adjustment manual. In this manual, our so-called basic setting is also listed.
The terms “Highspeed” and “Lowspeed” refer to the piston rod’s movement speed during compression and rebound, not the vehicle’s driving speed. To aid in memory, we have established internally in our dealer education that the suspension’s “Lowspeed” inputs are caused by driver actions such as braking, accelerating, and steering. Conversely, external influences like bumps, potholes, transverse joints, and other road irregularities are considered “Highspeed” inputs.
It is precisely these high-speed inputs that a KW V3 coilover suspension dampens through its multi-valve technology. On our KW suspensions homepage, we refer to this as “Twin Valve Rebound – Adjustable” for the rebound and “Twin Valve Compression – Adjustable” for the compression.
In short, when driving, this is noticeable when you, in this case with the KIA EV6 GT, are traveling on a rough side road, and all transverse joints or irregularities due to asphalt repairs are harmoniously dampened. This works even in conjunction with maximum lowering and the depicted wheel-tire combination.
We’ve embedded a vintage YouTube video into the blog for those who can’t quite imagine it.
If you’re not pleased with the pre-set basic setup, you can make adjustments to the KW V3 coilover suspension yourself. If you want even more direct handling in the 585 hp strong KIA EV6 GT, you can enhance the pre-set low-speed rebound setup of the KW V3 coilover suspension by closing the valve cross-section.
The damping adjustment is made using ergonomically shaped adjustment knobs directly on the shock absorber. Conversely, if the valve is further opened, the ride comfort increases. 16-click steps are available directly on the KW coilover suspension for this purpose. Independently, with twelve clicks, the low-speed compression forces can be adjusted—the compression stage influences, among other things, whether the wheels compress more firmly or less firmly.
